I really enjoyed this one, too, you guys are on a roll (not a surprise, but it’s good to say it every once and awhile!)
Part of what I find fascinating about LOTR and Narnia (and ultimately HP) are the ways in which Christianity and Christian themes are reflected in them - though I had to chuckle when Audra said that everyone knows that Narnia’s one giant Christian allegory - because here in unnamed S. American country, it’s totally not. In fact, a family member’s evangelical church did a Christmas play based on Narnia, which everyone was surprised to learn was actually “Christian.” Obviously, they did not grow up reading it, nor did their parents, nor did their great-grandfather give every child of the family their own copy.
I also thought the technology/progress vs. tradition/craftpersonship distinction is really interesting, I really enjoyed the conversation!
