GWC Podcast #198

Didn’t see the David Lynch video posted.

I don’t think he actually bashed Lucas (at least in this video). Or, maybe this isn’t the NYC session? He seemed humble about it actually.

I remember hearing someone say there’s a thread about it. Could someone link it? Forum search turned up nothing obvious.

I really enjoyed this one, too, you guys are on a roll  (not a surprise, but it’s good to say it every once and awhile!)

Part of what I find fascinating about LOTR and Narnia (and ultimately HP) are the ways in which Christianity and Christian themes are reflected in them - though I had to chuckle when Audra said that everyone knows that Narnia’s one giant Christian allegory - because here in unnamed S. American country, it’s totally not. In fact, a family member’s evangelical church did a Christmas play based on Narnia, which everyone was surprised to learn was actually “Christian.” Obviously, they did not grow up reading it, nor did their parents, nor did their great-grandfather give every child of the family their own copy. :stuck_out_tongue:

I also thought the technology/progress vs. tradition/craftpersonship distinction is really interesting, I really enjoyed the conversation!

Ah… I was watching a spoof of Lord of he Ring with UCI Middle Earth Campus housing…

and I realized I missed out a big component of the UCI housing geekness…

UCI campus is circled around a park, the main road that connects every building is called “The Ring”.
