When I first heard the song, that didn’t click right away. I was like “What does Jane Wyatt have to do with Aliens?”
The lyrics were amazing. Chuck and Audra bring the wit. Audra does indeed have mad rappin skillz!
Heh. My first thought too.
Agreed. I said already on Twitter then other day, but I’ll say it again.
Audra’s singin and rappin’ is awesome.
Makes me remember that my very first comment on GWC (pre forum era) was to tell Audra I loved her “Here in C.I.C.” song.
Bwahahahaha!! That’s awesome. You SHOULD totally write that up, maybe a short story… “A Day in the Life of, Raymond, the Alien.”
Hehehe. I miss Jane Wyatt! But alas, we have a newer, younger, stickier-fingered Spock’s mom now.
hmm. Interesting.
This inspires me to… well, more on that later.
Audra is my muse.
Well, we did. For a short while.
The tune that pops instantly into my head is “Nellie The Elephant”!
Raymond the Alien packs his trunk and says goodbye to LV426… uh… hrmm…
I love theat my twitteration with bkitty and starbuccaneer will live on in infamy facepalm
This 'cast was fantastic, though. Had me ROLLING!
Phew, finally have caught up on the latest GWC podcasts!
I have to say right off the bat, that I REALLY hated Alien 3 when I first saw it. I actually caught an early screening of it and bragged to all my friends about getting to see it first. The joke was on me, as I was the first to find out the fate of Hicks and Newt, and was utterly disappointed by the direction the story took.
That being said, I have to come like this film quite a bit over the years. Sure, it’s not perfect, but, it does have it’s cool moments. I still have a hard time dealing with such major characters being killed off right at the beginning, but, then have to stop and think. Look at this harsh reality that has been set up from the beginning. Yes, Ripley is badass, and survives it all, but, it never went well for those around her. Why should this point in the story be any different.
Anyway, the Alien is pretty cool in this flick, and yes, the part with the dog was harsh, but, I have some sick fascination with that scene. Sorry Sean. (Not that I want to see any doggies hurt, but, again, it’s just how the Alien comes to be. It’s disgusting, but, then it’s never pretty when one of them wee beasties pop out.)
The newer cut of the film, that is on the Quadrilogy, is quite interesting and definitely adds to the story.
I have to add that I laughed out loud, upon hearing of the family, that was eating popcorn as they watched the aftermath of a bad accident. Sick puppies! Although, I do the same while watching horror flicks.
Grok RULES!!
I always figured they killed Newt simply because the actress aged more than the character would’ve between the two movies. It’s the same reason they took the kid, Walt, off of LOST. They couldn’t explain why he hit puberty over the course of three months. So killing Newt wrecked the comics I’d bought, but I understood.
My only disappointment was the lack of ammo use. I went to the theater hoping to see Ripley blow the poo-poo out of some aliens, and I got a horror flick in which Ripley dies at the end. RIPLEY DIES AT THE END! WTF!?!? Ripley can’t die, I felt jipped.
Of course, Resurrection kinda sorta fixed that. But, it begs the question, if you clone someone are you bringing them back to life or creating a new life/soul?
Hmmm, good question. I think it’s a little of both. It did create a new life, but, still had traces of the Ripley that we knew, in her. I did like the dark edge the clone had though. Resurrection is pretty cool, in my opinion, and is a good addition to the series. I’m also a big fan of the director of that film. Jeunet has put out some visually stunning flicks over the years.
I’m not a big fan of the Alien vs. Predator movies though. It’s just missing something, in my honest opinion.
They’re missing Ripley first and foremost. I hear what you’re saying though. AVP1 added to the saga by explaining the Aliens are basically combat testers for the Predators, and there was that Bishop connection, which I liked. AVP2 on the other hand, was a pretty boring teen slasher flick which added NOTHING to the overall story. OK, they added this covert ops gal at the very end who procured one of Predator’s gadgets for “the company”, but it was too little too late.
So, I’m finally listening to this cast, and I gotta say, it’s one of the best ones. I had to stop my self from laughing lest my co-workers think I’m insaine. (Okay, lets they discover it).
Anyway, before I post any “deep thoughts” here, I thought I’d share this.

My problem with this is not that you can’t go back to horror after an action movie, its the fact that Alien 3 wasn’t really scary.
An honest question for the folks here. Did anyone find Alien 3 scary?
There were parts that had me on the edge of my seat. You gotta love the scene with Ripley and the Alien, when it basically comes up to “sniff her scent” so to speak, and leaves her alone.
Just finished the cast and had a thought about the alien embryo taking genetic material and characteristics from it’s host. Human host; alien is bi-pedal and angry. Dog host; alien is quad-pedal and runs wicked fast. If the alien came from a cat host would it just ignore you and find a sunny spot? Would it bathe itself with its little mouth?
Hah! You’d wake up with the damn thing kneading your chest…
I felt it was as suspenseful as Aliens… except that there were fewer suspensful scenes in Alien 3 than Aliens.
I never felt that there was an element of horror.
I felt that it was an action flick with less action than Aliens.
Not a bad movie, just a lesser movie.
I did like it thou!

Bad kitty! You made me pee myself in terror! Bad! (smack bananna head with rolled newspaper)
