GWC Podcast #170: Transformers The Movie (1986)

GWC Crew, I just wanted to say how much I’m enjoying the Transformer arc and the podcasts. You guys make me laugh, and the stuff is interesting to boot. Live long and prosper. Keep em coming.

Awesome threesome! That WAS an awesome podcast as usual. But don’t be dissing the 80’s rock music y’all… I grew up with that stuff

I especially loved The Touch. I think White Lion is in the soundtrack too somewhere… hey, that was cool of Chuck to call out the Chuck (heheheh) episode with The Touch!

Now, for Sean’s sake : the other big chick popstar of the time to rival Debbie Gibson was Tiffany (I used to have a crush on her; did anyone see her on that Survivor: Boot camp show?)

Does anyone know, to which character Leonard Nimoy did his voiceovers (VO) ? Was he Galvatron? I remember Goerge Orwell(!) was Unicron’s voice if I’m not wrong. (Of course, a remake of this cartoon movie would definitely include Maurice Lamarche as Unicron then (he was the voice of Brain from Pinky & the Brain.

hey, Sean, that was cool that your college gave you that-pep-talk on the first day of orientation. I wish I had one

One thing I remember about the smurfs : there were 99 of them. Smurfette became the 100th. Which is kinda cool for the intended audience (namely, me at age six) who is just learning to count.

Also, the junk-in-the-hat thing? I think you’re confusing the Smurfs with the Snorkels

Lastly, I think all those good shows that got cancelled from FOX should take notes from my favourite show from the '90s - Due South. The show got axed after two seasons. But like Firefly (and then some), it got revived due to the activism of it’s internet fans. In the end, the show ran for two more seasons with financial backing from overseas investors.

This is horribly overpriced for a USB drive, but I’m still tempted to buy one:

Perhaps but damn if it isn’t cool!! I myself am strapped for cash but still, that is tempting. The modern day equal of the cassette tape. ROCK ON Ravage!!

Here’s some pricing:

Random thought - Grimlock: I’d never really considered this, but someone on the internet mentioned that Grimlock really changes from season 2 and the Movie. In the show before the movie, Grimlock is really sort of a Caveman, but after the movie, He’s more child-like. It’s an interesting change.

<drool>

That is the shiz. Must own!

Yeah. When I first heard about them, they were sold out within the day of their announcement. As I recall, there were a few others (kinda cool but I still think Ravage is the best)

This brought back a memory of one of my favorite USB drives…Barbie flash drive

There’s also a Grimlock mouse.

My daughter walked past the computer and spotted headless Barbie stuck in the computer. She screamed, “Someone dropped a computer on Barbie’s head!!” massive tears

BTW, Thanks.

If I still worked in a public office I would totally have a headless Barbie USB drive. Just so people would bring the damn thing back.

I just happened to post a more recent pic of Kirk Cameron a couple of weeks ago on a different thread:

I think he’s attempting to debate evolution…

It’s just a theory.

So, what cartoons do people think are good? I am looking for stuff you can easily find now, either still running or still in re-runs.

My list:

[ul]
[li]Phineas and Ferb
[/li][li]Kim Possible
[/li][li]6Teen
[/li][li]Total Drama Island/Action
[/li][li]Anything in the recent DC Comics
[/li][/ul]

Yup, that completely rests on finding a crocoquail…

I couldn’t resist.

A Cameronoquail will do nicely too…

Kirk Cameron is a tool. And I don’t like him besmirching the “Kirk” name by using it.
(Yeah, I said that. I’m one of the friendliest people in Sci Fi and I said that.)

Add Ben 10 and Teen Titans to the list as well. And of course Transformers Animated!! Fun stuff

For anyone who doesn’t have kids, you’re probably unlikely to find yourself watching Phineas and Ferb. But I do indeed watch it with my kids.
And Holy Crap, is it ever funny and cleverly written.
