Don’t remember, exactly, but I’m pretty sure she’d be cool with a Kitt comparison.
Eartha, that is. The car, not so much.

Ah thanks I’m evidently convinced that, like That 70s Show, DS9 (and TNG too until I just double checked to my dismay) had 8 seasons. Alas.
It must mean it’s time for a rewatch hehehe.
Dang! I had it right the first time, and then I changed it cause it looked wrong, grammatically! LOL!
This was put in another thread , but I had to share here as well.
a day before nemisis:
Worf: Permission to come aboard.
Picard: What brings you here Commander?
Worf: Huh , You mean Ambasador. You know I’m the Federation Amabasador to the Klingon Empire, that my adopted Kinsman now Rules. I am potentialy the most important Federation Citizen/official/ former Starfleet officer in the Aplpha Quadrant!. But BTW, I am here to attend the wedding of Deana and Commander Riker.
Picard: Huh… yeah, right. No way your outranking me you dirty savage! Get your upity ass into those quarrters and change into a starfleet uniform. I don’t want to see ANY ambasador looking cloths or talk while you’re here. This is no free ride taxi service. You’ll have duty why your on this ship. And furthermore, If I tell you that you’ll be going to betazed and getting naked for a wedding, you’ll do it. I don’t want to hear any lip. And furthermore, I don’t want to see or hear a word about your dead wife, and noone beter mention it… cause she’s not really dead anyway! Suck it up mister! Now get up to the bridge and assume the Tactical position, Mr. Worf. Not , MR. Ambasador… Mr. Worf!
Sean was correct, by the way, the “awww” sound Audra made when Chuck mentioned
Data dying
was the sad wookie sound.
I think the real question is, who speaks more? Simon in the entire BSG series, or the Simon alien dude in Insurrection? Poor guy is always relegated to the back seat.
I don’t remember any references to it in DS9, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.
Eartha Kitt was the Bomb!!
I forgot to tell about that in the last 'cast. When I met Mark Sheppard last week he said something that sounded like “beer.” As I was walking up to him I said “did you say beer? We’ll buy you a beer.” He said “Ah, I don’t drink.” I said, “how about prune juice, then?” And he was baffled, like “prune juice? wha?” and laughed.
Thanks for clearing all that up! And that Marc Alaimo picture made me shrink from my laptop screen. shudder
I have a hard time imagining Worf acting out his grief during a time of war. Of course you can see his sadness about losing Jadzia in day-to-day life on DS9, but he’s a warrior and an officer. He is skilled (and probably trained) to put those things aside when he’s in battle. Take the example of Sisko- we see him fall apart behind the scenes after he loses his wife, but in command he holds it together.
A practical, unrelated reason for not mentioning Jadzia could be that not everyone who saw the movie knew either a) who she was or b) what had happened to her. And the reasons I gave above are enough to leave it out of the story and focus on the main plot.
Just because you disagree with the writers’ decisions doesn’t mean they know nothing about Trek.
Lol! I have to go back and find that… I’m still not sure what sound that is.
It is more a reference to where many Jewish people are from in Europe and therefore a rather wavy curly hair. I never heard it taken any way negative.
Wait a min!!! Deana Troi said that she hadn’t kissed Riker with the beard. Is that true. Did she not kiss him in TNG from season 2 on?
Hive mind wonder twin powers activate!
Is this true? You guys tell me.
Also.
I just thought of something else neat.
Why doesn’t the Federation set up a controled Hospital on the other side of the planet, as not to desturbe the Baku. They would never know ( nor probably mind) as long as their way of life wasn’t impacted. they seem to be really cool cats. Just a few thoughts
She kissed Thomas Riker, Will Riker’s transporter-accident-double, and HE had a beard, and was essentially the exact same person, but not.
It’s important to distinguish between a man-perm (think Brady Bunch) and a jew-fro. The later is naturally curly hair on a white (not necessarily jewish, but they do seem to have a lot of them) guy (I’ve never heard it used for a woman) that resembles an afro.
And, no, I’ve never heard of anyone taking offense to the term. It seems to fall into the category of terms like “scott-free,” “going dutch,” and “paddywagon.”
Incidentally, we can thank Insurrection for the Delta Flyer.
Voyager was initially supposed to have an “Aeroshuttle” that came out of the bottom of the saucer section, but they scrapped the idea so it wouldn’t take away from the launch of the Captain’s Yacht in Insurrection. If the Aeroshuttle was used on Voyager, it’s likely they never would have made the Delta Flyer.
Yup.
If I remember correctly the Captain’s Yacht was even part of 1701-D. While we never saw it used in any episode, when Patrick Steward was on the Letterman show in the mid 90’s, he said it was his favorite part of the ship. He described it as the “nipple” that hangs off the bottom of the saucer section, and he got quite excited about it IIRC…
I would have called this in, but I got a cold, so…
I think one of the reasons Nemesis did not so well was, to quote Wikipedia:
Star Trek Nemesis was released on December 13, 2002, in direct competition with Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (released November 15, 2002), the 20th James Bond movie Die Another Day (released November 22, 2002), and The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (released December 18, 2002).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek_Nemesis#Reaction
If you have a nemesis and then get another one, is that nemesii?
Excuses. Excuses.
Yes, I always thought if it had been released the following February or March it would have done a lot better…
I remember being on a business trip in Long Beach, Calif. in Jan 2003, and there was a movie theatre right a block away from the hotel. And I had to make the difficult choice of weather to see Nemesis or Two Towers.
I know I saw Two Towers, but I think I may have gone and seen Nemesis that same week.
As much of a Trek fan as I am, I had been anticipating the Lord of the Rings movies for so long that I had to give that one priority.
The plural of nemesis is nemeses.
Just like synthesis/syntheses, thesis/theses, and rpetty much any Greek-origin word that ends in -is.
Technically, nemesis is one of those non-plural-able words, like alternative.
I guess there’s the whole debatable thing whether arch-nemesis and nemesis are possible, like Dr. Horrible vs. Johnny Snow and Captain Hammer.
