I didn’t get the impression that it was a proper tool kit, more like he just happened to have some tools in his bag (or as mentioned above, he just took the ones he expected to need.) I don’t think he was using the optimal tools for the job (who fishes around blindly with needlenose pliers?)
The ‘stripped insulation’ thing is big. Brooks would have to have noticed it, so if he doesn’t immediately say something like ‘it’s just an old pair and the insulation had worn off,’ then it’s got to be intentional. (In RDM’s terms, that line puts down a card. It’s got to be picked up again somehow.)
That said, I’m with Chuck on it being an accident that sows the seeds of a survival plan. And of course, it has to be ‘Sweet 8’ getting homicidally protective.
Yeah, I with ya on that. It’s an awesome trailer, but after being forced to watch it 10 times I’m starting to want someone to bite my neck and put me out of my misery.
Was there an episode that suggested that the Cylons could track where ships had jumped to? If so, couldn’t the Cylons that are currently allied with the fleet help them find the raptor?

I totally agree with Chuck, I do not think there is any great conspiracy here just a series of unfortunate that is going to lead to everyone turning on each other.

Seriously, I think that Grace Park should get a “Most Improved” award for the quality of her acting from the mini to the end. She used to be a pretty bad actor and now I think she does a very solid job.
My theory, since I didn’t end up calling after all, is that BBBQ8 and Gaeta were involved sexually on New Caprica but that Gaeta made it happen in order to get information. I also wouldn’t if she were the creepy downloading one-- certain Sharons seem to have a very strong affinity for relationships with human men, even more than the affinity that Sharons have for deeper, individualized relationships in general, regardless of species. Gaeta may have cultivated her interest in him in order to get information to pass on to the Chief (via Jake, of course). Or he may have been involved with that 8 in some way and then pressured her to help him once he decided that Baltar was a motherfrakker. Indeed, that 8 could be one that Boomer and Cap-6 convinced of the need to leave humanity alone back in Season 2, so she may have felt ambivalent about the occupation in the first place. Regardless, I have this feeling that Gaeta didn’t care much for her as a person. Something about the way he stammered, “Youre… her?” made me think he was sorry to see her.
I also think that Brooks is the killer, if there is one. It looks to me like he used a yellow-handled screwdriverish tool when he first fished around under the hood, but then handed Flightsuit-Sharon a different tool- the pliers. One he had up his sleeve or stashed in there? Who knows. But I will repeat myself: Brooks gives me the uh-oh feeling.
Oh wait. That’s interesting. They’re not entirely stripped. You could use them with the insulation if you were careful. Hmmm.
Very nice! My one comment is that her official GWC name is Back Yard Bar-B-Que 8, or BYBBQ8. Now we need little plastic pieces for the pliers, the morpha and apparently some kind of slicing device and we’re ready to go for Galactica Webisode Clue…

He did use the Yellow & Black handled Stanley screw driver at first. He then threw it back in the kit after trying it & grabbed the plyers. If he is the killer, I doubt an 8 was the target. Until now, none of the 8’s have shown any inclination to grunt work.

More important when would he have had a chance to strip the pliers, unless he is very good at slight I doubt that he would have had chance to pull the covers off in the time he would when Brooks stopped and Pilot 8 gave it a go.
Webisode Clue! This looks like fun. We need more weapons, though. So we’ve got 1) pliers and 2) scalpel so far. What else? Morpha? Screw driver? Too bad Raptors don’t really have airlocks, because that would be a fun one.

Here is my (2nd) crackpot and highly unlikely theory.
Brooks and Gaeta had a thing going on New Caprica. However in order get information for the resistance, Felix started a torrid love affair with BYBBQ8. Feeling betrayed, Brooks vows revenge and begins his nefarious plans…
After months and months of manipulation, Brooks finally has Felix exactly where he wants him, on a doomed Raptor heading for the ‘Z’. Better yet there are two eights coming along as well, one of whom he is sure stole Gaeta from him. Unable to tell the two eights apart (and fairly unobservant since he did not notice the attention that the BBYBQ8 was paying to Gaeta) he offs the flight suit eight first. Now he just has to wait for the next webisode to move on to the next step in his evil plans…

As for Sweet 8 she is only called that in Jane Espenson audio commentary so lets wait and see if Gaeta calls her by a specific name in an upcoming sode.
