GWC Podcast #133 (Bonus)

Although I would have loved it if BYBBQ8 was a ‘head’ Sharon it looks extremely unlikely.

I was wondering if anyone remembers a 50s movie that I think was called Lifeboat. The movie was about the conflict that arises between survivors from a shipwreck that are stuck in a lifeboat with limited food and water. The webisodes are starting to feel a little like movie (at least how I remember it). Of course I do not remember the movie clearly and I was wondering if anyone else remembers it.

I think that was a Hitchcock movie, based a short story that I read in junior high. I barely remember the story. I’ll have to look this up.

On another note, I wonder how much oxygen Pilot 8’s electrocution burned off? Maybe The Killer isn’t as clever as he/she thinks.

oh no… when did Sharon become red-shirts… i should have know after that episode when they blew up the resurrection ship…

Aha! I was right. 1944 film directed by Alfred Hitchcock, based on a story by John Steinbeck. It was later remade into a 1993 TV sci-fi movie called “Lifepod.” I remember that coming out, but I never saw it.

In my family it is Prof. Plum that is always the first pick. My dad loves Col. Mustard for some reason. Glad to hear that it isn’t only my family that fights over such trivial things.

backyard barbacue sharon looked hot as always.

electra-dead sharon looked hot also.

Raptors have tons of empty space behind panels. You’d think that thing would be crammed with components. I bet they smuggle a lot of stuff behind those panels.

tigh did not get punched in this episode.

So BYBBQ8 isn’t the Download memory Boomer I guess. But what ties her to Peg Leg (Gaeta)? We know it’s not the resistance due to they didn’t know it was him giving the info till the airlock scene. She must be part of some Cylon resistance thing.

I’m about to check out the podcast. Not to be a whiner, but I did think the hinged louvred door access contraption really out of place. This is an advanced spacecraft, not the back side of a clothes dryer for cryin’ out loud.

in the future, even clothes dryer flies. that’s how advanced they are.

Being from Canada, when I go to Scifi.com I get a message telling me that the video is not available in my area. Any kind souls from the south who have the ability to post to youtube would be doing their northern neighbours a great favour. I’ve seen 1 and 2, but as yet 3 is not to be found.

3 is on youtube, thats how I have to view it too.

I guess I just need to adjust my search criteria.

Thanks.

Oh, I have Clue on DVD too! It is one of my favorite movies ever since I was a kid.

“I am the singing telegram!” gunshot

As for the boardgame, I remember I’d always choose Mrs. Peacock, because she takes the least amount of spaces to get into a corner room (which means you also get to go to the opposite corner room, so 2 rooms in the span of about 2 dice rolls).

Link for Webisode 3 on youtube, should anyone else can’t find it:-

Oh, whoops, I just saw that there’s a link already. Oh well. The more the merrier…?

So what is up with this episode being only 2:43? I thought all the webisodes would be the same length, more or less. I’m still reeling from the fact that 8 died so easily. Perhaps it’s a cylon thing? Even though they are mortal now, they’re not used to being careful, like checking to see if the insulation rubber is on the handle.

ETA: And on the question of resurrection, it just occured to me that while Six is pregnant with Tighbaby, there are no other examples of cylon/cylon procreation. Add in their obsession with the whole idea of it, and examples of their inability (the farm), doesn’t that render the cylon race (other than merging with the humans, because we do have clear conclusions that cylon/human babies do work, while Six has yet to give birth to a healthy baby) a dead race if they can’t resurrect? Whatever the population of cylons are, it essentially can’t grow. For that, does that mean the destruction of the Hub is enough ‘payback’ for the genocide? It amounts to almost the same thing, if not worse. And given the dangerously low number of procreation able humans (40 some K minus the infertile/old/etc…) and what I suppose is a higher number of cylons who has yet to prove their ability to procreate, then never mind Earth or Egads! the final cylon, the end game is obvious; the two speices can’t live without one another, and the future generation would have to most likely ‘cross pollinate’ in order to survive as one merged species.

In that case, do I smell either an assasination on Six’s cylon cylon baby or a troublesome pregnancy coming up? That would be the one thing (well, other than the possibility that they are able to resurrect) that would give the Cylons the upper hand.

EagainTA: I realize this isn’t really a discussion on the webisode, but this thought sparked from Chuck’s discussion on the whole ressurrection thing, so, apologies. Also apologies if this has been talked about/resolved already in the past, and I’m a big idiot for bringing it up again.

I sense that Chuck and Sean were channeling their Toolmonger.com lives during this 'cast. For a while, I thought that maybe Audra had joined them for their other wonderful podcast, Tool Talk, to chat about BSG. Frankly, it was the best of both worlds for me!!

Also, 'sode-related-with two 8s on board, I do buy Audra’s thought that Sharon offed herself to further the plot.

It’s kind of ironic because Chuck just did a blog on assembling the perfect toolkit over on Toolmonger.com ! Chuck’s was a lot more useful than that box of craaap in the 'sode!

“One Beer Projects: Air Scrubber Refurb.”

The webisodes are OK, but I feel like something is missing from my general entertainment options… if only there were a good movie about werewolves fighting vampires. Anyone have any suggestions?

I have to agree with the post earlier in the thread, what is with that panel not being able to be completely removed so the components can be worked on? Keeping them attached is completely impractical!

AS per the poor Toolkit. My idea is that the dude was going on a regular maintenance run. Perhaps it was to repair something that he has done regularly and knew exactly the tool that he would need. There is no need to carry around a heavy tool box when you don’t need to. Back in my Lighting days when i would go up in a lift to fix a light i would just take the couple tools that i needed. As for the condition of the tools. Well they have been in kinda heavy use for the last few years and they really have not had time to stop by he nearest Sears and exchange their broken down Craftsman for new ones.

Lol, very true. And maybe the tools in best condition, on Galactica at least, are reserved for the flight decks and their crews. Gotta keep those Vipers flying.

Prof. Plum was always my favorite. I went to a Clue-themed birthday party a few years ago dressed as him. I found a purple suit jacket at the Goodwill store, but I don’t know what happened to it. It’d have been great for The Joker this year.

My favorite part of the movie is the quiet moment in the Study when everyone’s pondering the clues…And then Mr. Green falls off the table in the background. Completely random, and makes me bust up every time.

edit: Gods, I just interrupted a discussion about tools to tell a story about dressing up in a purple suit. I’m such a nerd.
