GWC Podcast #115

Up this week: Matrix Revolutions. Highlights: we get down on the concept of man and machine living together, considering Neo as Christ figure (complete with choir), talk religion vs. spirituality, discuss programmatic “limitations” (like Lionel Ritchie in the coat room) and what makes them important, note the tremendous bravery of soldiers who volunteer to enter harm’s way when they can’t shoot back, ponder the importance of the dock defense, question (with the help of a caller) how children are born in the Matrix. Next week we wrap up the Matrix arc with a discussion of the Animatrix and the rest of the Matrix EU.

woohoo, Ive been waiting

I’m gonna take this to the bathtub with me tonight.

Toooooooo much info !!! This visual is going haunt my morning now…

The ipod, not the Trinity!

When I’m in the bath tub I always imagine that Trinity is with me. Either Trinity or Angelina Jolie.

Oh!..let me be clear, above I meant Trinity, not The Trinity. (no offense Chuck, Sean and Audra…tub ain’t big enough anyway )

I often take my laptop in the bathroom and listen to podcasts as I take a bath. Just to listen to it no IYKWIM involved.

Happy birthday Barb.

What about if you got out and just watched? IYKWIM :stuck_out_tongue:

Audra had déjà vu! Change in the Matrix!

Audra great 70s music.

Audra, the actor you were thinking of was Vincent Schiavelli. He was a great character actor and was very popular in genre programs, like Star Trek and Buffy, due to his unusual look.

Chuck did a “happy ending” joke!

If it makes you feel any better, I got what you meant right away. Dirty minds think alike.

Great job on remembering names.

“Someone” must not have been posting as much as before.

“Someone” who?

That someone that they always talk about in the podcast.

I can see what Audra’s saying about “breeding pairs”, but I think it’s pretty clear that the Architect’s motivations are not in any way related to those of a human male. Gay or straight doesn’t matter, because he’s neither human nor male. Just as Smith talked about “whole crops” in the original movie, the machines are analogous to “higher” forms of life, and humans are merely livestock. And if you know anything about farming, you’ll need a lot of hens, but you only really need one rooster. The Architect doesn’t care about them as people, much less as genders; all that matters is maintaining breeding stock…

So is an intro from the Arm Porn Association Socity not good for you? Huh? Huh?

Ditto. The machines probably did the math and this was the best mix for the breeding farm. shrug Nothing to do with love, preference or cultural norms. For the machines, humans are just batteries that yield power.

Great stuff, all.

Aside from the 2 chicks to one dude thing, on which, yes, Sean, a gay guy can totally be gay and thinks less of females, on which they are a horndog of sorts, am I the only one who’s suddenly disgusted by the thought of repopulation - all that INCEST??

Blech. Given it was the Sixth cycle of incest as it were, I’m surprised there weren’t any mutated stump of a mom wheeling her way around the final battle, while trying to load up the guns.

Though, Audra, I totally would love to see a devil’s threesome, as long as it involves a combination of Helo, Lee and Baltar.

I guess that’s the real message of these movies, then. Multigenerational incest produces a world of very attractive people who make excellent batteries.

Though, Audra, I totally would love to see a devil’s threesome, as long as it involves a combination of Helo, Lee and Baltar.

Isn’t that more of a gay threesome?
