GWC Podcast #104

I thought he wanted out of repairing ships altogether. I guess they didn’t explain that very well.

That was my argument last week. Not to mention she helped saved Hera, I didn’t understand why they were keeping her locked up in the first place. And why the other cylons didn’t ask for her back.

Well, she was still in love with him during his trial. Of course, he totally abandoned her, but that’s nothing new. As for walking past him directly to Tigh, well, she pregnant with Tigh’s baby. Hormones take over. I assume that’s the case with cylons.

Ah, yes. I recall that. Vaguely.

Still, I think they just never told the Rebel Cylons about her. They couldn’t be sure that alliance would hold together. At this point, though, what other options do any of them have?

Doc Cottle said they didn’t improve any of the plumbing “down there”, so I’d imagine the hormones all work the same way as well.

Wow guys, who woulda called it…Its not like I called it a FRAKING YEAR AGO. Very originol concept with the Matrix cycles, its not like I wrote ABOUT THAT LIKE A YEAR AGO.
I feel comfprtable living in the shlong of the US, I think I’ll tell my friends that.

I KNOW—it’s like when I said Tigh was one of the Final Five Cylons a YEAR ago!!!
…course it was a year ago that that episode aired…but still…I CALLED IT!! YEAH!!!

Laird is chief now. (but not the real chief!)

Thanks for that David.

Ok Help me remember something. How long was the wait between the season 3 mid-season closer and opener?

To be fair, I think the only reason they were holding Caprica in that cell was because she is a Six. I mean, she arrived on the Galactica with Athena and Hera, having helped them escape the Basestar. In my mind she never should have been locked up like that - certainly not for her behavior. Even on NC, she was one of the most conciliatory cylons.

But to answer your question - now that there’s a truce with the cylons (at least with the faction including her model number), maybe the humans don’t have to keep her as a POW? Does Lee’s amnesty (of cylonicity?? I still don’t get what he needs to amnesty anyone for, but whatevs) also cover whatever reason they had for imprisoning her?

I think she’s still in love with the Baltar she remembers from Caprica - but not necessarily with Revelations Baltar. We see what Tigh projects (?) onto her, for all we know she’s projecting Baltar’s face onto Tigh. Uf that’s not a pretty picture…

And somewhere, off the distance, Photoshop is spooling up.

I think they let her out and she is the one that goes up to Tigh on Earth-ish.

Earth-ish nice term.

I know I’m late to the party this week, but I absolutely must say that this sketch was on pretty much every mix cd exchanged in college among myself and three of my friends. Anne Elk, oh how I love your theory.

Great poem.

There is a great ep of The Moth about a dad and teen son and the use of LOL. Dad thought it meant lots of love :o Sadly, that ep is not online.

I thought Sydney, too! After looking at all of those bridge shots that people posted, I think we can’t tell and that RDM made it resemble many things and actually exactly match none of them. And he probably did it for a reason: to make us sweat it out.

Part of me really wants to know what happened to Earth and its people, but another part of me thinks that the show would close out better if it just looked straight ahead to where the fleet goes next.

Yeah. I was interested in talking more about that… I’ve been MIA for a week so there’s probably a thread for it out there somewhere. But definitely interesting. Unless all the Earthlings got raptured, there might be some pretty bad (ie: just like you and me) peeps out there in distopia just waiting to introduce themselves to Adama and the rest of the RTF.

Dude, that’s only sexist if you value their sexuality/beauty higher than anything else about them and/or treat women like objects. From what I’ve seen, that’s not so much our ThotFullGuy. Plus, is it sexist when I say that Rekha is hot? That’s just speaking the truth.

A) Great name and user-name. Sionn. Not Seen!
B) Yes, that little moment was one of my favorite. This episode was like a love letter to the complicated tableau of an ensemble cast.

EJO was drooling because he was practicing for Beverly Hills Chihuahua. Duh.

All in all, a fantastic ep. I was also thinking that I’d have been ok if this were the end, if they had tied up some of the other loose ends and then added the final line of the Admiral asking D’Anna, “What’s next?”

Maybe this has been mentioned already, but, for the record, what often passes for “prophecy” in popular culture and religion today should really be termed “prediction.” Nostradamus offered predictions, not prophecy. Biblically speaking, prophecy is inspired (God-given) commentary on contempoary history. So, you have Jeremiah et al. denouncing society as the Babylonians are breathing down Jerusalem’s neck, interpreting then-current events as God’s judgment. So it’s not quite telling the future (although there is some of that even in biblical prophecy). It’s more interpreting the world around you through the lens of faith. It’s maybe a subtle distinction, but an important one, I think.

We have “predictions” in BSG – or, maybe, Pythia’s prophecies are being (mis)treated as predictions.

I had the same thought a while ago about Cap projecting Baltar. But. I don’t think, in that situation at least, that the show would hide a crucial detail like projected head baltar.

Phew! That’s good to know. Glad to hear that I’m not sexist. But, let me repeat, Tory? I would totally do her, but not in a sexist way.

Sorry Starbuccaneer, but who is Rekha?

Rekha Sharma portrays Tory.

Sure she does. Suggest asking her who played third base for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1948.
