listening to the podcast now, and i have to say thanks to the dude that called in about cain’s hair. YES! hee hee. i also deem it fact now. roslin is wearing cain’s hair.
could that hell toupee simpsons halloween episode explain EVERYTHING about roslin? hee hee
If you land in central or northern Henderson, you need merely look north to see southern Las Vegas. The strip is about 10 miles rather than 5 as Chuck noted. Then again, that 5 miles is in terms of how the crow flies. You cannot get to the strip from Henderson that way! Surface streets take a wee bit longer.
Land in Vegas and look north…and Area 51 is off in the distance once you get past North Las Vegas and Nellis AFB while heading north on US-93 to pick up NV-318.
The Dying Leader… I don’t want to reiterate what other people have been saying about Roslin and making it to the homeland… and im sure other people can put together a much better argument than I can about who else it could be. Natalie definitely seemed to fit the role. D’anna could possibly be the dying leader, though thats a bit of a stretch. For a while Baltar even seemed to fit that role, hell, he could still fit that role because, unless I’m mistaken, he’s not totally out of the woods yet. He’s still bandaged up and has definitely seen better days. What if it’s a little more figurative than that though. Roslin’s role as a leader seems to be dying pretty quickly too, since the quorum lost faith in her, and Lee is doing such a kickass job. I dunno, that seems a little weak now that I see it in writing, but worth some discussion.
The Third Party… You guys were talking in the podcast about needing some third party to unite the 2 groups right now, and you mentioned the god/gods/orchestrator angle…which of course could also be the Beings of Light from TOS. After all, the Light Beings did use Apollo on Terra to prevent a nuclear apocalypse, showing that they’re no strangers to manipulating events, even indirectly. Perhaps they are the ones guiding all the pieces on the board somehow. Lets not forget though, there still is another party in play here. THE CYLONS! We have the Leoben/Sharon/Sixes/D’anna models forming an alliance with the colonials… and both groups have a common enemy in the form of the Cavil/Simon/Doral/Boomer group. So as long as there is a common enemy, and a common goal, i.e. Earth, the alliance has a strong chance, also allowing them to learn from each other and hopefully prevent the next cycle.
This episode was great… Hope the wait for 4.5 isn’t to frakking long… Thankfully we still have you guys keeping us sane.
Oh, 2 last things… Baltar has frakked one fourth of the skinjobs (model numbers, not actual population numbers… well…that we know of) and the final cylon has to be, without a doubt, inarguably… Starbuck’s Viper. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
I noticed a great deal of nods and glances. The Chief’s look at Tygh just before he was going to be airlocked. It was a nod of respect. The look of Tory when she was introduced as a cylon. Maybe I missed it before but wow the glances were is very telling.
It’s a lot to go through, read every post. The show used shot by shot recreations of War of The Gods with Faith and The Hub. I think the shots deal with what the crew is talking about Prophecy on this weeks cast. I think I may have unraveled the secret of the show. Finding Earth makes complete sense to me after making this discovery. Finding Earth= Galactica 1980. Think about how awful Galactica 1980 was and then how finding Earth in the new series was so disappointing… Anyways I’m done wading through these therories for a few days. Check the shots out and soak it in and let me know what you think.
Was I the only person who completely did not recognize that they were looking at the Brooklyn Bridge?
Wow, what an ending, though, both terrible and brilliant. It was terrible in the sense that I felt so horrible for these poor characters. They’d finally made the Cylon-human alliance stick, finally gotten the Final Four safely out of the chrome closet, finally gotten everybody to be sane and hopeful and willing to change the never-ending cycle of hatred and destruction (I’ve never loved Lee more than when he said “but it doesn’t have to happen again”), and what do they (and we) get for finally getting everything right? Cue the celestial trumpets? Of course not. We get Bill Adama flinging away a handful of radioactive soil in disgust (Is it weird that, somehow, the hat that Bill is wearing makes it even sadder? I don’t know why, but it makes me think of a little boy bundled up in his winter clothes, running home from church on Christmas morning to open his presents only to find his home has burned to the ground). We get everyone we’ve come to know and care about these past few years struck by silent horror, staring at a wasteland as they walk through the ruined halls of the Temple of Aurora, goddess of the dawn, harbinger of new beginnings.
On the other hand, revealing Earth like this is brilliant in terms of the story and where it takes the series. “Revelations” manages to answer one of the big questions of the series in such a way that tosses all the pieces on the game board into the air, and there’s no way of predicting where those pieces will land. As Adama said, Earth was the end of the line. Where do they go from here, literally and figuratively?
I loved that, too! Especially when the Marines come, he’s got this look on his face like, “Yep, I was totally expecting this. Still sucks, but–totally expected.”
I don’t remember what thread I posted it in, but I have a theory that Earth might not be the promised land, which means the Dying Leader, whoever s/he is, isn’t done leading yet. Just another thought to toss into the speculation pool.
I was corrupted by vast quantities of Python at an early age. whenever anyone announces they “have a theory” I always think of Miss Anne Elk. and gods help me if my sister’s in the room as well.
I, also, was Pythoned at an early age, but what comes to mind with those words is the “I’ve Got A Theory” song from Buffy. It plays in my head every time I hear those words! And ends with:
BUNNIES! It must be BUNNAAAYYS! Or maybe midgets…
bkitty…glad you’re here…quick aside from the thread. With kids, we have accumulated a plethora of ‘Webkinz’ stuffed animals here, one of which is a cute little black cat that my son has named “Katty”. So, this morning, as he sits on the couch drawing, I noticed the Webkinz laying on the floor nearby. I pick it up, place it next to him, and say :
“Would you like bkitty to sit next to you while you draw?”…
Man, I’m totally torn… I save the podcast for my weekday commute… But I have a five-hour drive Thursday… But I want – need – to listen ASAP. urghhhh… Any chance of an extra mid-week podcast? Not just for me… OK, well, kind of just for me… But everybody else would like it.
…which is ridiculous, 'cause witches they were persecuted, love the Earth, and women power, I’ll be over here…
We were just playing the Buffy musical in the car yesterday, amended with the extra Anya song from later… The two-year-old loves the Anya/Xander songs… As does everybody…
And, yes, if you’re a Python fan and you don’t have the albums, they’re worth tracking down. Plenty of extra stuff that’s not always as good as the show, but Python at 50% is still pretty durn good.
