Ok, I couldn’t find a video clip of this, but it’s a transcript from the movie A Mighty Wind where Ed Begley Jr. plays Lars Olfen, a Swedish-born executive for a PBS-like company who throws Yiddish words into nearly every sentence. It’s great:
Lars Olfen: The naches that I’m feeling right now… 'cause your dad was like mishpoche to me. When I heard I got these ticket to the Folksmen, I let out a geshreeyeh, and I’m running with my friend… running around like a vilde chaye, right into the theater, in the front row! Larry goes back a ways - he’s the cylon that Young Adama beat down with the pipe in the mini-sode they aired in the hiatus between seasons 3 and 4. I think it was Sean who first called him “Larry,” and then Larry’s world took off from there. Maybe someone can jump in here with a thread link?

Do you think Larry speaks Yiddish? I am so surprised how many people know any Yiddish on this board. I had to look up some of the words. I look forward to the next podcast.

The only True larry hater is Baby Adama (young Bill adama in Razor). When Adama meets a cylon he usually beats them with a pipe.
When he finds out his friend Tigh is a cylon----well, it won’t be pretty.

I listened to the cast last night, on the way to Lacrosse practice with the 12 year old son in the car. In an odd twist of fate, my dear son just recently completed Human Growth and Development three weeks ago (made for great banter at the dining room table) and we got quite a kick out of Audra, Chuck and Sean’s Health Ed stories. I figure between those and what he heard at school my work is likely done in that area:) Thanks guys!
