I had to explain it to my hubby too. He was mad for not getting it himself.
Saw Hanna today, thoroughly enjoyed it. Not just all action, there are good character moments and even a little humor. And the story presents a number of good twists and turns as it slowly unfolds, along with the mystery of who she is and why she is being pursued.
I think I enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed Unknown.
As soon as I find somebody, that will be the next one.
Went yesterday to the cinema to watch it as well. Besides an older couple, we were alone in the 400 seat hall. Unknown reminded me a lot of Taken where Liam Nesson has to fight his way through an European city, again. lol
Next time i want to watch it in OV, just so I can see how much characters spoke German or with an accent.
They got me fooled in the middle of the movie about the phony-target, should have expected that there would be another twist. And I especially was happy to see who went out in a spectacular fireball.
Saw Hanna today, thoroughly enjoyed it.
Hanna was a wonderful movie. It’s a fairytale told through the lens of the modern spy movie. Imagine Little Red Riding Hood meets the Bourne Identity.
Here are my two cents about Sucker Punch:
I went into it expecting eye candy with a bit of story and was gladly surprised to see it had multi-layers like Inception and you (the viewer) had to keep that in mind. Yeah, the abrupt pacing stops and then again into full throttle irked me a bit, but it was IMO a fine piece of art and had more complex elements plus heart than many people will give it credit. There were little scenes like
Baby Doll catching Sweet Pea’s eye at the first time in the “theater”. Which was afterwards a hint of what was going on in the insane asylum since the cut to the brothel
was very suddenly and confused a few in our audience. Those jerks had to fret about it and IMO should NEVER go see a movie which they might not get and they can’t the FRAK SHUT UP! All in all I’m happy to have watched it in the theater and got the fantastic soundtrack. Already with the Sweet Dreams Remix (one fav song of me) I liked it from the getgo.
The hubby and I saw Your Highness on Monday. It was okay, kind of cute. I’d hoped for better but it was still good enough for matinee prices. Don’t expect any sort of sophisticated humor - this is really for the 12 year old boy type of humor. Luckily I have the sense of humor of a 12 year old boy.
Saw Your Highness also… Yeah it is juvenile and you will see many of the jokes coming from a mile away, but it has its moments. I am inclined to say wait for it on Netflix, I think it would be much more entertaining in a relaxed setting with a few beers and surrounded by friends where you can cut loose and enjoy yourself.
I can’t say that you will be losing out in any way by not seeing it on the big screen, this is a rental movie to see when you are in a bawdy mood and need a few good laughs.
IMHO
Saw Thor today, the sets, arcitecture and costume designs were gorgeous. Nothing about Asgard is small, everything is huge, ornate and regal. It never feels like a TV movie, it has great scale to it and good pacing. I liked the story, humor and action very much. I have enjoyed Brannaugh’s films in the past and this one is no exception.
Good casting, and all of the characters got some descent screen time. The sound design really added to the ominousness of the magical weapondry and weight to the armor used in the film. And yes, if you wait and sit through all of the end credits you will be presented with a nice little Easter Egg.
The theater erupted with laughter during Stan Lee’s cameo. And I missed him during the movie but I saw during the credits that MJS has a cameo as well, he is listed as one of the townspeople. That is a nice touch. Now I need to buy me some Thor trades, the MJS ones of course.
I just got home from seeing Thor today. Loved it! Wonderful sets and FX. The scenes in Asgard are absolutely gorgeous! The Stan Lee cameo is hi-larious too.
Saw the movie with my sister and brother-in-law. During the Captain America trailer, I couldn’t remember the name of the baddie. So I leaned over to my sister and had her ask my b-i-l what his name was, he was a big comic reader when he was younger. The answer I got back was…the elf king from LOTR. I laughed and asked again the name of the bad guy…second answer was Hugo Weaving. Bwahahaha! Finally made it clear that I knew who the actor was and got my answer of Red Skull.
Saw Thor…really quite good. Not Iron Mna OSSIM…but well done. Some spots kinda dragged…but it was cool seeing Asgard etc.
And Sif was HAAAWWWTTTT
The post credits ending was sweet as well.
Misssster Anderson…
Yes. Yes, she is.
Who?! Was there others in the movie? Cause I only had eyes for Thor. I mean damn talk about eye candy.
Yes…Agent Smith. Hehehe!
Sif…female warrior on the team…had the sword with the…nevermind sigh
Hehehe…there was eye candy for everyone!
Woah. The dark hair paired with light blue eyes, the whiskey, the flannel. Yum.
Priest:
Fun, good action and it was interesting seing Urban as a bad guy, he really seemed to be enjoying himself. I went in with low expectations and just wanted to see cool fights and slow mo 3D action moments, I was not disappointed. I was glad Maggie Q got as much screen time as she did, I like her and think she will be the next Michelle Yeoh, hope there is a sequel.
Now I need to see Fast 5 to round out my weekend.
Hanna - amazing film. A child-vengeance tale in the vein of Leon and I’d rate it on a par with that masterpiece. Add in a soundtrack by the Chemical Brothers and you have the best film I’ve seen in a long time.
Saw Priest - was enjoyable, reminded me a little of the old spaghetti westerns with Clinet Eastwood in dialogue and story arc. Urban was just awesome (McCoy can be a badass). Although every time I saw Stephen Moyer I thot SOOKEH IZ MAHN!!! Good action and nice unrequited love B storyline
IMHO - it, like Thor, does not need to be seen in 3D. I think 3D should be like holiday china…bring it out for big occcasions (Avatar and the like). Just my opinion
Just finished watching this on Netflix Instant Watch. I had low expectations going in, as it was clearly one of those cheap movies that SyFy prefers. OTOH, it was written by Walter Koenig, starring him, Richard Hatch, Marina Sirtis, and a host of other actors best known from Trek and other sci-fi.
To say that my low expectations were set too high is an understatement.
What started off as a somewhat entertaining alien story turns into a weird Lifetime movie where a man loses his baby to the nebulous “government”. And then, inexplicably, the last half turns into some kind of farcical courtroom drama which doesn’t make sense on several levels.
Don’t waste your time.
