Guess what I want for my next birthday?
I’m thinking we should schedule a Frak party for the night they all get together…
Just booked my flight. Now for hotel arrangements, and then I can Oh-fish-all-ee RSVP.
Just reserved my room! : )
I’m in the holiday inn right next door, or right next to the next door. Googlemaps says both the hotels are in the middle of the street so I’m not exactly sure.
Either way, Holiday Inn is free due to huge amounts of points, and I am quite excited.
just recieved my bsg raceback shirt… and again, lovin it(geeky yes)… but ha cool
Is it black or a brownish color?
its def. more blakish then brown, if ya kno what i mean
Another quick update for everyone attending (or thinking of attending) the meetup:
We now have 30 people RSVP’d for the entire event and around 45 for the Friday night showing. Our limiting factor size-wise has always been the fire code at the restaurant for the Saturday night event, but we’ve opened up some options to allow us to handle more if needed, so we’re OK for now.
RE: Food/drink for the Friday night event:
Don’t worry too much about these details yet as we’ll nail everything down in the last few weeks as we have a better idea of exactly how many people will be attending. But at minimum there’ll be food available pre-show at the hotel, and we’re currently planning a hang-out/dinner session for everyone (with Audra hosting) from around 4:30 or so until the start of the Friday event. So you shouldn’t go hungry. More details as things firm up.
RE: What about the rest of the weekend?
I’ve received some PM/mail asking how we plan on entertaining everyone for the rest of the weekend. Obviously (as mentioned above) our specific plans depend on how many people are coming, how many are staying in the hotel, etc – which means we’ll wrap this all up about two weeks out. Our current plan is to send everyone who’s RSVP’d a nice PDF’d info packet as soon as everything’s nailed down.
But I can say that I don’t think entertainment is going to be a problem. We’re working on a number of additional Saturday activities including early-bird and late-sleeper breakfasts, an optional museum trip w/Audra, a gaming/hang-out session (with food/drink), a post-Dining Out party, and a Sunday morning breakfast.
As Sean says, we’ll have it all figured out by the time we reach the frontier.
RE: You’re all badass!
Yeah, you heard me. When I first took on the task of putting together our first national meetup, I figured it’d be five or six of you that I’ve already met hanging out and watching the show – which, BTW, would be fun, too. Obviously the response has blown me away.
Thanks so much for your patience as we put this all together, and for your understanding that it’s our first event. It’s looking like a great time. I remember someone mentioning on Twitter a few weeks ago that they wish there was a GWC Dorm we could all live in. Guess what? For two whole days there will be.
Huzzah! My tickets are booked, and I’m working on the hotel. T-minus 41 days and counting…
So, how many people can we get into the restaurant or is 30 the limit?
Oh and…1000th post…what do I win?
Eta: alright, decided to do a little comprehensive reading this time, disregard my question
Um, hi. Long time podcast listener, first time forum poster. My boyfriend and I are in Austin and are interested in driving to the meetup. I am not sure if we can RSVP at this time because my boyfriend’s work schedule is kind of funky. Is it ok to play it by ear and give an RSVP a week or two before? Or is the meetup itself going to be full?
Anyway, maybe if not this meetup then another.
OMG Ya’ll I am so frakking excited about this.
I get more excited each day. My pilot’s tanks I ordered off of eBay arrived and they look fantastic, now I’m just waiting on my dog tags. I feel like a kid again! This is way better than Christmas.
Hey Sara, welcome to the forum. You should PM Chuck about a maybe late RSVP. Might get a faster answer than your post here.
Hi, I live here in Plano, Texas and my wife, my son, and I would love to attend the final episode in Frisco. What do we need to do to sign up for the event. We are big fans of the show and long time podcast listeners on itunes.
Welcome first posters. PM Chuck to RSVP.

Hey! What part of Plano? I might be able to see your house from mine
Aset, sometimes if you keep checking back, seats will open up. Or they’ll add seats. I was AMAZED that my flights down and back to Orlando weren’t full. They were late flights but that is unheard of. Those are usually packed to the hilt flights, like cattle cars. So, don’t give up, keep checking for availability. Trust me.
Also, don’t be afraid to be somewhat forceful with the agent you speak with on the phone (yes, use the force–lol). Call, don’t do it online. Explain that you put yourself out and accepted this ticket in return and you are asking that they do the same thing in return and release a seat for you to use on a flight for you. It’s a single freakin’ seat to DFW during a non-busy time of the year. Speak like you know what the heck you are talking about. Don’t be afraid to ask to speak to a supervisor or to call back and try your luck with another ticketing agent. SERIOUSLY. My hubs travels all the time for work, does this kind of stuff all the time.
I really hope you’ll be able to make it!!
