Going to KSC/Florida!

I’m taking the family to Kennedy Space Center in a couple weeks! We originally planned the whole trip around catching the final launch of the shuttle program, but the delays on the last mission ended up pushing back the launch over a week, so… :frowning: :frowning: American Airlines wanted $300 PER PERSON to change the tickets to intersect with the new launch date, so super sad.

BUT! We will still be visiting KSC! We’ll be there the last week of June for a few days, very much looking forward to it! I’d like to build the kids up to a proper fervor so they enjoy the sights. I’m thinking of showing them Apollo 13, some From The Earth To The Moon bits, and so on. Any other suggestions on stuff that can bring their excitement up?

Also, any suggestions on things to do in Orlando other than KSC? We don’t really have the cash to hit the big parks like Disney World (plus we used to live next to Disneyland, so, meh) but I’ve heard there are some interesting things like ‘gator farms’ and whatnot to visit, thoughts?

How about puppy hugging? At Southeastern Guide Dogs in Palmetto Florida they do puppy hugging at 9am. This helps to socialize the pups and help the staff determine which pups will make the best guide dogs.

Puppies!

That sounds fun, but the crying when we leave without a puppy might put a tinge on the rest of the trip, heh heh.

FYI - Star Trek: The Exhibition is at KSC as of June 11th. No doubt it’s a separate ticket expense but they have a recreated TOS bridge.

Based on some of the pictures on the last URL it looks like some of the Star Trek: The Experience props/costumes and a revamped History of the Future display are there.

Just touched down at DFW on the way to Florida. Waving howdy at the GWCers as well as Chuck, Sean, and Audra. Y’all are nearabouts, right?
