Games You're Looking Forward to in '09

What games are you most looking forward to this year? I’ve got quite a few and already have most of them reserved. These are the games I’m most looking forward to this year (in order by current release date):

  1. Star Ocean: The Last Hope - yet another tri-Ace/ SquareEnix RPG and since I’m a sucker for the RPG’s I’m very glad I have a three day weekend next week since this game comes out next Tuesday.

  2. Puzzle Quest Galactrix- the first Puzzle Quest was the best use of MS points I’ve made and I’m really looking forward to playing the new one. Between this and Star Ocean the only things that will pull me away from my 360 next week are BSG and getting to see Lily Tomlin next Thursday.

  3. The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena- Loved the original version (it’s still one of the best looking original XBox games) and I’ve been waiting to get my hands on this one since it was announced there was going to be a 360 version.

  4. Overlord 2- Seriously loved the first one because lets face it the minions were cute and it was totally an homage to LOTR but totally hilarious. If the second is a good as the first it will totally be worth it.

  5. Ghostbusters- I was bummed when this game didn’t come out last year thanks to some stupid executive and I can’t wait to play this.

  6. Halo 3: ODST- although Halo Wars looks promising and even though I’ll probably end up owning it ODST is the Halo game I’m really looking forward to. Ever since this game was announced I’ve pretty stoked to see Halo from the perspective of someone other than Master Chief. Plus since it’s a Halo game you can bet the voice actors will include a who’s who of sci-fi stars.

  7. Alpha Protocol- the RPG fan in me is intrigued by this game and I’m looking forward to giving it a shot.

  8. Bioshock 2- the first is still arguably the best game out on the 360 (imo it’s a toss up between Bioshock and ME) and I can’t wait to see how they work the sequel.

  9. Dragon Age Origins- all that needs to be said is it’s a Bioware game, end of story.

My list of “must haves” dropped through the floor when my kid was born, so I’m just now about to start up a borrowed copy of Fallout 3 and am still waiting to get SoulCali 4 (which I did rent and it’s great) and Fable 2, which I still cannot believe I haven’t played, since Fable 1 was one of my favorite Xbox games.

Not much stands out too much this year, but of course Halo ODST draws my interest, more because it’s not about MC and instead puts you in another perspective during the war on Earth.

Dragon Age looks good, especially once I get a new PC by Christmas.

And BioShock 2 has me giddy with joy, as I loved BioShock for what it was (and didn’t fret too much about what it wasn’t) and can’t wait for some more polish.

Mostly I’m watching handheld games, like the new Fire Emblem, the Dragon Quest remakes on DS, and any other time sinks I can play on the go. And trying to catch up to what happened last year, when I was getting up every two hours all night.
