I’m cool with that. I was just joking earlier. I thot Badger got it wrong, in the first place. With all these dates and times, Badger is the TIMELORD!!
If it turns out that a lot of East Coasters find 11PM waaaay too late, then we’ll nudge it earlier a little. For now, let’s keep it 11PM.
I know for certain that’ll be too late for many who might otherwise be interested. Maybe we should have an additional time? Thots?
And look how they turned out.
if we do as we’ve been doing with BSG and start at quarter past, I’m okay with 10. and 2 eps a week as we planned is also preferable.
or–next week is the last BSG saturday. we could let Firefly take over that timeslot if everyone is amenable
Either option works for me.
let’s do a poll!
(keep it to yourself, Mr B!)
Your siggy is making me laugh as we banter over scheduling. notsurewhen PM. HA!
Any interest in Oldies Frak Night? Of the top of the head, I’m thinking To Catch A Thief, Casablanca, Bullitt, Strangers on a Train, Dr. Strangelove, Chinatown, Rebel Without a Cause, American Grafitti… things like that. Or we could do a Hitchcock series. Or something else, maybe… I’m open to suggestions.
A definite Yes to all.
I agree, absolutely. If you’d like earlier frak parties, just set 'em up! The only reason we have them when we do is that those who take the initiative to start them decide that that’s when they want to do them. We can also refrak movies we’ve already done at a different time, but any time that we’ve tried it in the past, the response was underwhelming.
So just random old movies or some kind of theme? I’d be interested in pretty much any of those, although there are a few I’ve never seen yet.
There’s a coherent theme: “Old Movies That Tray Likes.” There, how about that for a theme.
I’m just kidding… like I said, I’m open to suggestion if you guys have other good classic movies you’d like to introduce me to.)
I’m thinking When Harry Met Sally is such a classic, that we need to do it again (I missed that one but came in for the post game commentary). So to accommodate Keara and others, lets think about doing this again but earlier.
Some of my suggestions for Frak parties :
Miller’s Crossing (written by the Big Lebowski writers)
Love Actually (smarmy romance, but fun for a Frak party I’d guess).
Mel Gibson’s Hamlet (just cuz I’m so familiar with that version)
Good Will Hunting
Rob Roy
To add…
Say Anything
True Romance
Crimson Tide
Raising Arizona
Princess Bride (yes, again. And again.)
Well done, Solai, I like all of those.
Yes, Dr. Stangelove and Chinatown in particular.
Love actually would be quite amusing
There’s one particular thing I think is fantastically funny about that movie.
Ya know how in any love story there’s always a part at the end, where the guy goes after the girl, the girl goes after the guy. That romantic dash to the airport to get her/him back…that showing up on her/his doorstep to say “I’m sorry. I love you” ?
Well, in this movie, there’s like 10 love story plot lines go on at once, so that “romantic dash to your true love” section of the movie is a bloody 20 minutes long! It’s hysterical.
Hmmm…what about say a Sunday afternoon fun old movie frak? Every Sunday at say 5pm EST, we watch an old movie. We could run them in themes: Hitchcock, 80’s John Hughes, Cheesey love stories, monster movies? The themes are endless!
And “To Catch A Thief”, one of my most favorite movies ever, is definitely a combo mystery/love story. It’d work nicely together.
I’ve got an idea… the Sunday before Valentines day, why don’t we do a “Love Actually”, “To Catch a Thief”, “Princess Bride” triple header?
I don’t know if I could do 3 in a day, but I would clear my calendar for a Princess Bride frak party.
