Hi all,

I’m kick starting this because we Westies are seriously lacking in meetup mojo. After jealously watching the Easties do Rochester, then Boston, and now Pittsburgh, I think we need to show them how it’s done.

Vegas baby, Vegas!

I’m thinking MLK weekend is a good time since a lot of us have a three day weekend to get together, and it’s nice and cool so we’re not dying in the desert. Plus Las Vegas has everything we could ever want for meetup! What say you, people?

We have a Facebook event page going already but if you don’t have one, RSVP with me here or DM me and I’ll make sure you’re added to the list. Once we get closer we’ll see how many are going and start setting up rooming for everyone.

I’m in! Vegas is a much easier destination than Dallas price-wise in January. March is high-peak travel in AZ for Spring Break.

I’m keeping an eye on airfare to Vegas-it’s CRAZY expensive right now. Hopefully it will come down to a more reasonable rate, because I would really like to attend this meetup. I might have even talked my hub into attending his first GWC event.

I believe the ‘statute of limitations’ has run out on all my previous offenses there… (long story) I think it is safe for me to return for a short while, I will request the time off.

Is the Vegas trip definitely happening? If so, what hotel will it be at? I need to book a room at Harrahs Las Vegas and flight soon before prices go up. LMK!

I have filled out the appropriate paperwork and am applying vacation time toward the trip. I will be there if no one else… I will be driving so crowed airports and the TSA are not an issue for me. The major casinos are pretty close together, so even if we cannot get rooms in the same casinos, or motels gathering together for excursions will not be a problem. What mostly needs to be determined is ‘old vegas’ or ‘the strip’? I am leaning towards the ‘Excalibur’ (it is on the strip), I still have yet to see one of those frakking jousting tourneys… And I lived there for a year… :frowning:

AWESOME! I live about an hour from Vegas. I shall do everything in my power to get time off from work. Oh and good luck and Crom speed to anyone who tries to drive down the strip. (seriously, it’s a frakin nightmare.)

Well sorry to say, I am going to have to bow out. I just can’t swing the airfare right now. Long story short, I have some health issues that need to be addressed right now, so any extra $$ has to go towards that. I’d like to be able to attend the March meetup in Dallas as well, so I have to budget wisely. :slight_smile:

Well my Corporate Overlords want me in Chicago (in January) rather than Vegas.

Some other co-worker gets to enjoy America’s playground while I get to walk down Michigan Avenue and freeze my arse off.

I will be at the Excalibur Hotel/Casino, it is nice and central on the strip; and next door to the Luxor which is where I believe most of you are staying. All the rooms with only a single bed were taken so I had to get one with two, so if anyone wants to save some money and use the other bed you are welcome to it.

I plan to arrive thursday evening and leave tuesday afternoon. And I get paid thursday; Hoo-Frakkin-Yah!! :groucho:

I just canceled my reservations, the flu which has been sweeping through the campus like a; well… VIRUS. Finally bit me as well, I am all but completely off my feet. I will be in no shape to stay up late and party like a Klingon… Which sucks. I will be using my vacation hours as sick days instead. But I am trying to look at this situation as a positive…

The money I would have blown at this event I can instead put toward the GWC meet-up. And all of the cool bling I had bought I can wear there as well. Sorry folks, but maybe I will see you in Texas, here is hoping… Have fun you crazy kids! :wink:
