Firefly 1x03 Bushwhacked

In the Army, we got 10-15 character passwords every couple of days that we weren’t allowed to write down. My supervisor locked himself out every day. He would have to go and get reamed every day to get a new password. Sometimes he’d forget that one (ie twice in one day.)

Grrr, argh!

So next week we’ll do Shindig and Safe?

Same time? I should be able to do that.

We have to change ours for our windows log-in at work every 90 days. It gets confusing (right after you change it) remembering which one you’re using now.

Shindig is one of my favorites, I am very much looking forward to it

Yep! Thanks everyone, that was shiny!

Same time next week!

Now, I MUST do this recording!

Later, kids!

Oh yeah, along with post-its with their last 10 or so passwords…they rotate them.

I never understand that. The person is having a problem and its IT’s job to figure it out. Why blame the user? I get that sometimes from the Helpdesk I work with. It’s frustrating cuz I’m like, “Did you ask this or that?” and they look at me like I have nine heads.

Don’t sweat it, cas. If they treated you like that, they don’t understand it.

See you all next week.

I’m also off - I have an early morning tomorrow.

Have a lovely evening

Yep. Until I get the threads made, consult the calendar.

I don’t assume every enduser is at fault but just about half of them have problems that prove to be an error between the chair and the keyboard.

Next week it is, barring any unforeseen catastrophes…

Best to use a phrase you’re familiar with. I sometimes use quotes from scifi. Big shocker there. Depending on how secure I want something the more esoteric. For example, maythe4CBwithU

So true. PEBCAK

Bye, folks!

Night all! Hopefully I’ll get the RH and this week’s podcasts finished tomorrow.

I try to, but I’ve about gone through all of them, and it won’t let you repeat any of the last like 28 you’ve already used. It’s ridiculous. I usually end up remembering it after a few tries. Plus I have to remember all the randomly generated admin passwords, too. I get that we handle sensitive data, but it seems a bit paranoid sometimes.

Yup… the speed at which you can make your product idiot-proof is never greater that the speed at which people get dumber. This is a losing game.
