A kind of cheesy movie, but with timetravel, a nuclear aircraft carrier, F14 vs. Zeros, Kik Douglas, Martin Sheen and a chance to change world history.
This might be an interesting candidate for re-watch.

Cheesy. Shmeesy.
I remember badly wanting to watch this movie as a kid for EXACTLY that reason - Zeeks v. Tomcats. In my young mind, it was such a great match up. Can they single handedly prevent the attack on Pearl Harbor? Will they be whopped? AWESOME!
Older now, 'course - but still, when I think about it… AWESOME!
You’d think this would have been a more popular movie: time travel, Kirk Douglas, James Farentino, jets v. Japanese-it had it all.
And, yet, when it came out, I saw this movie in a theater with exactly three other people in attendance.
Cheesy, yes, but definitely worth considering for a re-watch!
Then I urge you to try and find a copy of John Birmingham’s WorldWar 2.1. 2.2 and 2.3 series of novels. I think they are titled differently in the USA but the first one is called Weapons of Choice.
Very similar premise but novelised. I won’t tell you the plot but I think you’ll like them!

I might just have to buy it. I am a history major, and books on alternate history have always fascinated me. Lately I have been reading a lot of Turtledove’s In the Balance series and the 1632 series. Interesting ideas, but not the greatest writing performances I have ever seen.
Yeah I love the whole alternate history genre as well. I’ve completed the Turtledove series too, from Worldwar - Colonisation - Homeward Bound and while Turtledove may not be the best writer, his projections for future history are excellent.
I really think you’ll enjoy the Birmingham series.

The Birmingham series was very good. I could easily see it as a mini-series on Sci Fi.
The Turtledove series, both Worldwar and The Great War, are really good as well. Given how long each book is and that they appeared about a year apart, I never had a problem picking up the latest volume and diving right in without missing a beat.
I finished the first book a couple of days ago, and I thought it was pretty good. The only thing I didn’t like about it was how it seemed like every single person from the WWII era was either an idiot or a bigot. Don’t get me wrong though, I did enjoy the book, and have ordered the next two. It will be interesting to see where this series goes. Thanks for recommending it.
