I know Martin’s already had a turn with “A Game of Thrones”, but as there has been some supernatural horror talk, I thought I’d bring up Fevre Dream, a steamboat vampire book that takes placealong the Mississippi about 150 years ago, give or take a decade or two. I don’t like vampires, but this sublime marriage of old Americana and vampires works superbly. It’s also fun to read a 30 year-old vampire book considering the massive amount of change they’ve undergone since.
