yeah, he totally would have rocked as Elrond
I was VERY WORRIED when I heard they were gonna try to work more Arwen into the story. I feared they’d like make her part of the Fellowship or something.
But everything they added Arwen-wise was just right.
The only thing I ever did close to that was when we had a blizzard in '82. The snow was built up so high I spent hours as Han Solo on Hoth searching for Luke. The neighbors must have thot I was nuts, jumping over and into the six foot high mounds of snow.
At first, they had her leading the elves to Helm’s Deep. I think that would have been a bad choice.
just as long as you didn’t slaughter any tauntauns for warmth
Holy craap. Imagine if you and I were next door neighbors. We’d be doing that stuff all the time!!!
“Men are weak.”
So true, Elrond. So True.
Glorfindel, not Gil-galad.
“Gil-galad was an Elven King
of him the harpers sadly sing…”
And I can’t remember the rest of the song.
This change was OK for me, specifically because Glorfindel does not play a significant role in the rest of the story. It was a good way to give Arwen a larger role in the movie, I thought.
/Agent Smith voice on/
This evil can not be concealled by the power of the elves, Miisstter Anderson.

it was about six inches from me, on my desk
Actually, there was a stuff animal that met its demise.
I know. It would have been glorious.
Yup. I stand corrected. Did Gil Galad fight in that battle flashback now with Elrond?
I was close. Hehe.
I didn’t get the whole romance thing. But then I looked over at my wife and she was enthralled. Then I got it.
I’m not sure, but I don’t think this Boromir/Aragorn scene was in the book.
But it works and it so necessary.
The Council of Elrond. Awesome stuff.
Immortal women are awesome in the sack.
(sorry I just brought this awesome frak party into the gutter )
It wasn’t, but it does help to set up the relationship between them.
IIRC, Elrond was Gil-galad’s standard-bearer in the battle with Sauron, where Isildur took the Ring.
I like the subtle aging they did on Elrond between the Last Alliance of Men and Elves and the “present day” scenes. Not a lot, but he does look older.
I use the Gandalf daddy voice when I need to get my daughter’s attention.
