Fan remade Star Wars

Thanks! BTW, by responding, you have now volunteered to go out and film a clip too. You really should read the single pixel legal disclaimer I put in my last post!

I’m doing such a hard-sell on this project because it seems PERFECT for GWC’ers! It’s 92% complete, and the last 8% is always the toughest. Let’s kick this pig!

Finished another clip!

I decided to star in this one myself. Did you know Princess Leia wore a traditional Egyptian galabaia when loading the plans onto R2? Ok, well, she did in my version. Also, she’s a large sarcastic Star Wars nerd named Ben now.

Wow. I can’t believe that shot was still available.

Or that you wore a dress on camera.

Actually, the shot’s availability is more surprising.

I glad you stuck with “No bras in space.” Carrie Fisher will be proud.

Heh heh heh, nice.

An update, I’ve signed up for a third and final scene. I think I’m a serial filmer now.

This one will be the most challenging, it involves many quick scene changes as it’s the moment when the droids and the fab four arrive at different parts of the hangar in the Death Star and must rely on the fight between Kenobi and Vader as a distraction to get aboard the Falcon.

Here’s the original clip:

Wish me luck! Just 3% left, stay on target. Stay on target!

Not as tough as I thought. There’s got to be more awkward ones with that arbitrary time limit.

How close to done are they?

The reason it’s tough is because of the number of backgrounds I’ll need to film + draw, and because unlike the others, I need to bring in some external acting talent.

Here’s the scenes I need to do, copied from my production notes I started last night:

  1. Close-up of Millenium Falcon ramp (Storm troopers leaving) (foreground done, need Falcon)
  2. Downlow straight-on shot of Falcon and hangar for background of Lightsaber fight with blast door in the foreground. b[/b]
  3. Side shot of ramp from inside a corridor with Stormtroopers running towards Vader fight. (done)
  4. Close up of pillar and wall (Chewie, Solo, Leia, Luke hiding) b[/b]
  5. Front-side look at Falcon from inside side-nook where Droids are hiding behind barrels and crates.
  6. Reverse view of nook with wall and crates and barrels as droids leave.
  7. (Repeat of 4)
  8. Wall of crates and barrels that droids are walking past.
  9. Hangar view of corridor that the fab four are running out of towards Falcon.

3% remaining, so maybe 10 scenes? It’s getting close.

BTW, here’s the most recent scene checked in, I thought it was very well done:

Are the scenes submitted w/o audio?

Nope, you make your own audio. The scenes are not to be submitted with MUSIC, however, as that would be super discordant. The guy is working to have the real soundtrack placed on it if possible, and was just invited out to Skywalker Ranch to meet with Lucasfilm folks who are interested in the project.

Ah, I see why you were asking, some of the scenes people decide to use the audio straight from the movie. I didn’t think about that because I choose to do my own.

Finished my third and final scene!

I starred extensively in this one, heh. The most technologically advanced fx: Digitally compositing Princess Leia’s hair buns on the side of my head and tracking the movement.

snort Nicely done.

How did you do R2’s noises?

oh wow… from a person who has trouble even putting together fan made music videos, i can’t even imagine the work you went through to put it together so well. keep at it!

I whistled 'em myself. I can basically do a whistle that sounds like the mechanical owl from Clash of the Titans. Done slightly differently, it sounds almost like everyone’s favorite Roomba++, R2.

Thanks!

Wow, thanks! I knew nothing about fx when I started, and now I know very slightly more than nothing.

Next is to remake Avatar in 3D right? (:

!!!

I did one of those, sc257. I should do another one, really (preferably the one where Han shoots first!)

Woo-hoo! Awesome!
