I guess I need a refresher about who’s who in Falling Skies because I have no recollection on what “Espheni” or “Volm” means. And when did we first meet the Volm leader Cochise? Was that just last episode? As far as aliens go Cochise looks amazing.

There are so many different categories of characters it’s difficult to keep track - especially since several look like plain humans. So here goes. We’ve got:

  • Plain humans like Pope, Maggie, President Tom Mason, Dr. Anne Glass, Brig General Bressler, Brig General Jim Porter, Tector, etc

  • Previously harnessed kids with “super powers” like Ben “Benji” Mason and Rick Thompson

  • Volm like Cochise

  • The Overlords/Espheni seen int eh 2nd season

  • The ‘Fish-head’ insect/humonoids called Skitters (rebels and loyal to the Overlords

  • Harnessed humans like Karen that have morphed into full-up non-human/alien Overlords

  • "Mechs " - bipedal robots that are commanded by the Overlords

I’m sure I missed a few but those are the highlights as far as I can see them.

The whole Hal-Maggie-Karen love triangle story is a little creepy. I hope the rebels find out exactly what is going on with Hal soon and Maggie tells someone. I mean the whole Hal-can’t-walk thing should have been a giant flag to the rebels and he should have been pulled off of military duty. But with all that said he’s not the mole - or at least not the mole that tipped the plans of the nuclear plant attack to the Overlords. He was already gone with Col Weaver’s men. Which leaves who? The new assistant to Tom Mason Marina Peralta? How so BSG-Tory.

Talking about weirdness, what’s up with Alexis Glass-Mason? Thanks to e-trade commercials that several day old baby is actually looking like a baby that is advancing months ahead of schedule. Maybe she’s make a killing in the stock market to finance the New New United States’ rebel operations.

I love the Dr. Roger Kadar introduction. It definitely brings a BSG-Baltar/SGU-Dr Nicholas Rush feel to the series that was missing. He even looks like Rush.

Falling Skies might borrow a LOT from other series but it does so well. It doesn’t feel borrowed at all. It feels like Falling Skies is its own show.
