Failing dryer (laundry dryer)

Looks like our dryer is dying. (It’s a Whirlpool, maybe 6 years old, give or take.)

I put in clothes, hit start, come back an hour later, and there’s still sitting there in a wet lump. So far, knock on wood, it works the next time.

It spins and such, but the heating element is bad.

Anybody had this problem before? Is it cheaper / better in the long term to buy a new one or have it fixed?

Thanks!

Is it gas? Perhaps your “line in” to the house was shut off for maintenance? Can you fire up (pun) your gas stove?

Model #?

Baltar

Electric. Whirlpool 29". No model name on it, just # WED5700SW0.

Thanks!

Thankfully your dryer has a great reference on line.

The linkage for some of the parts have helpful videos … like this one regarding the thermal fuse ( Bulkhead Diagram , part 7) video linkage.

Good luck

Of course you could hang clothes on a clothes line for that fresh fresh smell

Oh … here a general info Google post on dryer repair as well --> dryer spins … but no heat.

Good steer! Thanks, mates!

Here’s a handy tip: Easiest way to clear out a dryer vent is to use a leaf blower.

I would have never thought of that!!
