So would Starbucks father at the piano be God?? He did give that look like—do you remember now? Do you have an idea of why you are here??
Interesting idea. I’m still wondering if that was really her father. Would she recognize what he looked like?
I guess he would. It seems that the head people were angels also, but not in corporeal form. I especially liked it when Head6 called him god and head baltar said “you know he doesn’t like to be called that”.
my question is what’s Kara…? That perhaps is the biggest question unanswered.
Yeah, that seemed to be a tip toward the Jewish tradition. RDM seems to have given a nod to almost everyone.
At first I was like “AHHH who is GOD?” But this makes a lot of sense now! I didn’t even think of that! It seems so obvious if it was a snake it would have bit me.
Head Balter actually said “you know IT doesn’t like to be called that”
Good point.
And there’s also a theme of heavenly music… in the Judeo-Christian expression, it’s the chorus of angels singing some heavenly tune for eternity.
In Tolkien’s Silmarillion, the one-god, Eru, composed the tune for the Valar to sing. Even the discordant tones made by Melkor, were in fact, devised by Eru - Eru had a plan.
We saw the face of god.
He was reading a Nat. Geo at the end.
word.
I guess Kara is Christ… since she died and resurrected without technology and then assented to heaven.
I’m going with Kara as goddess Aurora. When Adm. Adama was building his ship, I recall him making some comment about sailors relying on Aurora to guide them to their destination. And Kara gave him the icon of Aurora for the ship’s maidenhead.
Plus, according to Wikipedia (the source of all light, goodness and truth in the universe)…
“In ancient Roman mythology Aurora, goddess of the dawn, renews herself every morning and flies across the sky, announcing the arrival of the sun.”
So resurrection, the imagery evoked by the name of the episode, and her disappearance just after the dawn, are all consistent.
I haven’t listened to the episode yet, so if Audra or someone else already brought this up…nevermind.
THe OGG told us what she was in Razor - an angel. Now as for Head 6 and Head Baltar - who knows? If they are angels, they are not particularly “angelic”.
ah, what is an angel. fun times
I’m of the mind that they don’t have to be what we’ve come to call “angelic,” because really, angels should be thought of as messengers from the divine, an extension if you will. I think that we might say that in the BSG-verse, the divine isn’t necessarily benevolent and providential for all individuals, so why should the messengers solely be benevolent and providential?
RDM confirmed that its her father.
The piano is “God”…or maybe the viper.
