The graphic novel line called Fables is outstanding. For those who have not heard of it, the premise is that all the classic fairy tale characters like Snow White, Big Bad Wolf, Bluebeard etc have been forced out of thier mythic lands and now live hidden in our world. They have thier own underground community that functions alongside our own. I have been very happy with all three GN’s that I have read so far.
I’ll second that.
How cool! I’m going to see if I can find that. In one of my English classes I do a section for fun on Little Red Riding Hood in its various incarnations and we talk about the PG13 or R-rated predecessors to many children’s tales. If anyone here likes fairy tale revisions, you might check out Angela Carter’s versions of Bluebeard and LRRH (“The Company of Wolves”). It’s kind of edgy and disturbing, and with a feminist view - pretty interesting stuff.
I love Fables and am correctly waiting for the next tradeback to come out. Even bought the first statue that was released.
