According to http://io9.com/5181112/dvd-version-of-bsgs-finale-will-include-a-cylon-love-triangle The DVD release of the finale will be “three-hour-plus” and include lots of new scenes and some extended scenes. Maybe it will make some of the little issues folks are having with it a little easier to swallow.
I’ll have to see if I can find the article again. There are I think like 4 or 5 episodes from 4.5 that will have extended versions on the DVD release. Most of them around 10-15 minutes longer.
I for one would like to see an explanation of how Kara gets from the Maelstrom to Earth 1.0.
I think the grumps will be grumps.
RDM talked about some of the deleted scenes in his podcast, they dont seem to be extremely important.
I think they will probably put back in some of the missiles on the colony sequence to make it more evident that it was destroyed.
Maybe we get to see it torn apart by the black hole.
I want to see the extended cut of the scene where lee says “You won’t be forgotten” and the starbuck pops out of the long grass and starts laughing and says “hahah… you’re such a sucker lee… lets do it right here… i double dog dare you.”
While I liked what actually happened; this would totally rock also.
it seems that the deleted stuff will surely add to the overall cohesion of the finale, but don’t expect anything major; majoris what made it into the episode.
So far as I’ve listened, it sounded like the biggest sequences that will be in the longer version are more flashbacks, particularly Chief flashbacks, which I was very happy to hear. That also explains why there were pictures of Chief and Cally in their miniseries haircuts and deck gear from the finale floating around on the Internet.

I was kind of hoping for an extended version of Blood on the Scales (one of my favorites this season half-season, and Angeli described a lot of really cool cut material) and Deadlock (one of my least favorites this season, and seems to have suffered from not having all the pieces it needed, like Adama giving Baltar guns because there were so many mutineers on the prison ship), but I’m excited to see what they’ve got.
