Enterprise Finale

io9 has an article posted regarding the infamous finale:

"After years and years of online complaining, producer and writer Brannon Braga has finally come clean and apologized for shortchanging us all with that crappy Star Trek: Enterprise finale.

In an interview with IFMagazine, Braga explained that the “final, final episode” didn’t even live up to his expectations: “I may be understating it when I’m saying it didn’t turn out as well as I hoped,” he said. Yeah, no kidding.

The trekkie-loathed finale of Enterprise was, he explained, supposed to be a “love letter” of sorts to fans, but ended up being pretty “lackluster,” and the worst part of it is, he knew it after it came out. But he wouldn’t change it, and he won’t get involved with it again:

My analogy with STAR TREK is I divorced my wife, I love her dearly, she's with a great guy, and I'm so happy for her. At the same time, in the back of mind, someone else is with my wife. That's how I feel. I can't help but feel emotionally attached to STAR TREK. But predominantly my feeling is it's in great hands with J.J. Abrams and I can't wait to see the movie.

Of course he’s excited for the J.J. Abrams movie. Aren’t we all?"

Fo’ real? He actually said that?

I’m not sure what to think. For years, every Star Trek: Communicator article and every interview in any entertainment magazine was Braga, Berman, and Co. gushing about how excited they were for next week’s episode and all the great plans they had for the series. It just got too much for me. A lot of shallow, hypocritcal BS hyperbole that was more befitting of a cookie-cutter mainstream network show than Star Trek.

When RDM has a bad episode (ie: “Black Market”) he comes right out and says it as the episode airs, and then goes back to work to make the next one better. That’s one of the major reasons I respect him.

Interesting note from one of the comments on that article:

Fun fact: Jeri Ryan dumped her husband to be with Braga, which led to the divorce filing that destroyed her husband’s Illinois senate candidacy – paving the way for Obama to become a senator, and then president. Thanks, Brannon Braga!
