That was worse than a slap. The Enterprise finale felt like a double middle finger from Berman/Braga.
No doubt…more so the disappointment in not hooking Tripp and T’Pol up…after what they did with the Phantom Baby those two deserved a “real kid”…even the ones from the alternate future got to have kids…geesh…I strongly dislike Berman…never did like his vision…
To me, the Riker aspect of the finale was worse than Trip’s death.
That didn’t bother me so much…it INFURIATED me that they spoiled the death before it happened…and not showing Archer’s speech was kinda dick too
Tripp’s death felt so meaningless…
the more I think of how they ended the show the more annoyed I’m getting today…I think the 3 Enterprise Montage kinda eased my pain for a bit…
Interesting. Sounds like you had the same take on Enterprise as me right across the board.
Being a Star Trek megafan, I did watch each episode as it aired on TV, but I felt it was overall full of missed opportunities. But I’m glad it exists all that said.
I have not watched since the series first aired, I do not remember the phantom baby. I could watch it on Amazon Prime if I knew which episode it was.
Yeah so am I…I did love seeing humanity grow up in space and the ground work for the Federation laid …it just felt a lot like lucy pulling that football away at the last second at times…
It was the Terra Prime arc (the 3 parter right before the Finale that had Robocop as the guest bad guy)
Heheh. Peter Weller.
All hail Empress Hoshi!!!
Awesome pair of episodes.
But the finale was a letdown.
Does anyone know if the extras on the DVD (or Blu Ray) that has a more satisfying end to the show? I’m curious…
For a more satisfying end, I strongly (STRONGLY) encourage reading the Enterprise Relaunch novels. They fix things that were terribly broken in the finale, cover the missing Romulan War, and they tie Enterprise directly into TOS, TNG, DS9, and Voyager without time travel. I can’t say too much more without spoiling, but they’re worth it.
Hrmmm…I may have to look into this next month when I fly back to Dallas to see the Thanksgiving Day game…the only time I can ever make myself read is on an airplane…I know…weird…
Dammit, I TOTALLY forgot about them leaving the Romulan sub-plot hanging…BASTARDS!!!
Thanks Thunder. I need to check those out. Proof that there are plenty of life left for the series.
And a slight nod to Stargate Atlantis.
Thunderscreech hit the nail on the head. The Enterprise/Romulan War novels are the perfect retcon for that cruddy series finale; they are well-written and tie the series into the rest of the universe in a way that only a few of the episodes ever really did. The various authors even manage to explain away the inconsistencies between Enterprise and TOS. Cannot recommend them enough.
Ok guys, advice taken. Said novels are now happily residing on ny ipad awaiting consumption.
Thanks for the heads-up!
Back in 2001, UPN used a then-popular pop song ‘Wherever You Will Go’ by ‘The Calling’. It’s got guitars, vocals, etc and isn’t an orchestral opening like the other series, but it’s certainly a different feel from the Dianne Warren theme they used in its place.
Someone else scored ‘Archers Theme’ to the intro which fits the traditional opening nicely, I wanted to edit this song down to fit into the confines of the credits to see how it worked and it doesn’t seem entirely terrible.
In the end, I think I would have preferred the ‘Archers Theme’ version, sure, but if it’s gotta be a pop song with electric guitars and singing, they could have done much worse than this song. Oh, I forgot… they did.
Anyhow, here’s my shot at a different pop intro:
I remember that promo song, good song. I like the opening, then again I’d probably like it with whatever music they put with it, including “Faith of the Heart”.
Here is a pretty cool one that somebody made a while back with the music from Stargate Atlantis.
