E3 2009 chat

So i just finished watching the Microsoft Press Conference. And Wow. Nintendo and Sony are gonna have a hard time topping it i think. The Natal alone is amazing if it works as they say it does…and from what they show it does more or less. At least it works well for a the prototype. I think it would be worth a good chunk of my money. Milo looks creepy and to be something horror movies are made of but the tech is cool. If only i can have a hot red head English girl instead of Christopher robin.

I didn’t get to see the first few games yet but the side scrolling XBoX Arcade game looks like a cooler version of Contra which is good. I love Splinter Cell so i am excited about that. and XBox acquiring the Metal Gear license just took alot of wind out of the sails of Sony. The new Halos look like halo which is good.

Alas i missed most of the Modern War and Final Fantasy but i am guessing they looked awesome as well

Alan Wake looks really fun

I am glad that i can finally browse Netflix on the console. Also we can now have our Avatars get together to watch stuff at Frak Parties. The Radio looks cool.

Twitter on Xbox could be fun but the only use for Facebook on the 360 i see would be for the game screen shots.

All in all it seems like an awesome event. Cant wait to see how the other companies do.

EA just showed the first Trailer for the new Star Wars MMO. I think i have a new favorite game i am looking forward to. Finally a game that has me interested in MMO’s. Also it showed me something that i didn’t know i wanted to see but do so now. A huge battle between the Sith and Jedi. Awesomeness to the extreme!!!

I just got home a little bit ago and started watching the Microsoft show from earlier today and so far all I can is…

Final Fantasy XIII looks awesome on the 360!

Edit: Oh man. Two new HALO games. I was already excited for ODST and now we find out HALO Reach is coming out next year. Two games from one of my favorite franchises. If Natal is as good as the demo of it’s features it could put quite a dent in Wii sales. I’m really excited to see how well Milo works.

That is all.

EDIT: Oh, it was already mentioned above. I’m kind of disappointed that there’s no ME2 footage… Yet. Left 4 Dead 2 looks interesting. As a PS3 owner, I’m more interested in what Sony has to say tomorrow.

Yea they havn’t posted any of the new videos for ME2 yet. The video was awesome. It started the same as the E3 teaser video that was already linked in the thread but then extended it a decent amount. I posted more about it in the ME2 thread.

The EA press conference not only had the ME 2 trailer but also the Dragon Age: Origins trailer. Thankfully Bioware will have a game out this year to hold me over until ME 2 releases early next year. Dragon Age looks to awesome. There were some interesting scenes in the trailer. This game looks to be even more deserving of a Mature rating than ME.

Frak!!! The Old Republic trailer was amazing. The Sith all seem to be wearing replicas of Revan’s armor and the main Sith in the trailer is very reminiscent of Malak. I guess I will have to buy a new computer in time to play this game.

Yeah, totally with you on the Dragon Age trailer. Not digging the Manson, but I love the feel. I can’t wait for that game.

i have not seen Nintendo’s conference yet but Sony’s was decent. I think Microsoft blew it away thought.

The highlights of Sony. God of War 3 looks like GoW which is a good thing. The announcement of FF 14 which looks to be another MMO perhaps…which is meh in my book. The Motion controller looks better than Wii motion plus however i think the Natal (assuming it works correctly) blows them both out of the water. The Cart Racer looks fun but i can get a free one on 360 and have my avatar drive it. What looks the best was The Last Guardian. I love love love Ico and Shadows of the Colossus. and Guardian seems to be building on those games. MAG looks like it could be cool as well if it sells well enough to regularly populate 256 people in a game at all times.

The new PSP looks nice but not to much. I am really surprised Sony did not announce some sort of Netflix or Hulu integration. I think Netflix on the XBOX is one of the coolest developments of late.

I will post more once i watch the Nintendo conference later tonight.

Also keep a rooting on for Steve Wiebe who is trying to beat Billy Mitchels record on Donkey Kong again.

Yeah, the Sony one was okay. The Last Guardian could be interesting, the motion controllers I doubt will catch on, and MAG doesn’t interest me that much.

I wasn’t surprised that Nintendo showed basically nothing. The new Metroid might be okay?

Nintendo closed pretty strong but the rest of it was pretty weak. Wii Motion+ is a patch to fix their flawed controllers. Wii Vitality is completely WTF…it serves no purpose at all. Unless they create a game that you control with you heart…
Highlights were definitely Mario Galaxy 2 and the New Metroid. For the most part everything else was kinda meh. When Nintendo came out and more or less said they really dont care about the core gamer they kinda lost me.

Microsoft wins followed by Sony and Nintendo a distant third

My only real exposure to E3 this year is whatever videos are popping up on Xbox Live. I haven’t checked out the Natal video yet.

Out of the trailers I’ve seen, FFXIII left me feeling like maybe I really am too old for these games, Mass Effect looked awesome, and Saboteur looked completely incredible.

There was an Alan Wake trailer and I missed it? DAMN YOU, WORK.

Anybody else looking forward to Brutal Legend? (I don’t know how to make the umlauts.)

I can’t wait for Brutal Legend. It looks amazing.
