DVD prices elsewhere

Hey Folks living abroad.

I was wondering what the price of DVD’s where else where in the world. Also what if any is the difference between Domestically made movies/shows vs. foreign.

The reason i ask is i am looking into getting the he Dr Who dvd’s but the MSRP is like $99.00 per season. (you can get it on Amazon for like 75 new or as low as 65 used) But at the same time most of our seasons of television are around 45 to 50 MSRP max (much less on Amazon) (and you get many more than just the 13 episodes normally about 23 or so).

I just checked the site where I get my DVDs from and the Dr Who boxsets are £30 each it seems. I think that’s about $50. UK television series usually have less episodes than US ones. Although generally nearly everything is more expensive here than in the US. I’ve been known to do a fair bit of importing.

If you do plan on buying DVDs from elsewhere, make sure you have a DVD player that will play DVDs of a different region.

You can often get a season for $20US if you are willing to wait until the next season is out on DVD. A new season of BSG runs $35 to $45 depending on where you buy it. I think that $40 for a season of a top show is pretty standard. I think it’s too much, so I wait and buy on sale or used.

Yea. I have been waiting for The Wire prices to come down. I think 60 plus is to much to pay for 13 episodes. I like to wait till they hit 40 or so as well on sale days or used.

I also try to get DVD’s on the week they come out when they tend to be much cheaper. But i really dont buy DVDs much anymore down that i have Netflix. Also i am trying to wait till i purchase a Blue Ray player so i don’t have to rebuy alot of stuff.
