DVD Audio problem.

Since I got a second monitor a couple weeks ago, I’ve been trying to play DVDs for the Atlantis Frak Parties on my main computer. The problem is, when I do, voices are almost inaudible while music and background noise are normal volume. I’ve tried three different audio players with the same result, so it’s not just something with Windows Media Player. Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like the center channel (normally the voice channel) is either not plugged in or there’s a software/program discrepancy. I get that sometimes when watching anime. Check the speaker setup in Windows. Might have to switch them from 5.1 to stereo.

I have to use certain programs when listening to the GWC podcasts. If I try to listen through my headphones, I won’t hear anything because the track is mono and tries to output through the center channel. Since headphones are stereo, nothing comes through the headphones unless I use another app, or change my settings.

Other than that, I suggest the CCCP codec pack. It comes with Media Player Classic. It’s what many anime watchers use.

Yeah, I was gonna suggest the center channel as well. What software are you using to play the DVDs? It should hopefully have audio presets for headphones, 5.1 stereo, two-speaker stereo, etc.

I tried using Windows Media Player, Media Player Classic, and RealPlayer. I’ll check that center channel thing when I get home from work today.

Media Player Classic is okay but I would suggest VLC Player it is da best.
It does sound like a channel or connection problem. If everything else playing from your computer sounds good then make sure the soundcard has been configured properly as suggested and that you are playing the correct audio file from the DVD. Since they come with several audio channels it may be (by default) playing one that isn’t friendly to your setup. Especially if you play other DVD’s and they sound good.

The CCCP codec pack includes an app that lets you set the volume of each channel (only takes affect when you use Zoomplayer(?) or Media Player Classic). Which is nice until you play a DVD or file where the channels are ok, then you have to readjust the volumes again.

I hear VLC has a mem leak. Has that been fix? Also, I’m not crazy about VLC’s UI. But, it’s good to have around occasionally.

VLC Player did the trick. Thanks
