Just beat the game. Used Alistair, Morgaine, and Dog in the beginning. Switched out Dog for Wynne. Switched out Morgaine for Sten. Completed the game that way (Me, Alistair, Wynne, Sten).
I got such a bummer ending =/

I’m totally bummed because I think I screwed up me being in a relationship with Leliana, I don’t know how but I think I accidentally put us down the ‘friend’ path, even though the whole time I was trying to pick the more flirtyish responses
I also totally screwed up the Landsmeet lol
oh well I still see myself playing through it a few more times!
my next character is going to be somewhat evil and I’m going to try to have a Morrigan relationship (I was trying for her in my first game but I was being super good and she kept disapproving of what I was doing lol)
I think my biggest problem was that I kissed Morrigan in front of Leliana very early on so she never really took to me I guess despite doing her personal quest and having her like meter maxed out
edit: though I’m not done with the game I’m at the VERY end, I should have it finished tonight
Almost done! It was getting late last night so I had to stop pretty much right before the very last battle - and I do mean the very last battle. It was so difficult to do that but I had an early meeting this morning /grumble.
I’m using Alistair, Morrigan and Shale for the end game and it’s been great so far. In the beginning, I primarily used Alistair, Wynne and Dog / Leilana / Shale. I wanted to use Morrigan more, but she and Alistair are such opposites I couldn’t keep both their approval ratings up, without plying them with more gifts than necessary to compensate. A shame too, because they have the best idle dialgoue.
But I’m already planning out my next game. I want to go through and play all of the origins stories and then play this game over again slowly so I have a good endgame (or two) to use just in case there’s a sequel à la ME2. I frakked up the sidequests and missed a couple backpacks which hurt when doing long quests like Deep Roads.
I think the romance with Leliana and Alistair are the easiest ones to accidentally mess up. Morrigan and Zevran are easy, no real flirting is required just gifts and a few conversations. You have to work for it with Leliana and Alistair. Although I do prefer the romance with Leliana as a female PC so Alistair usually gets ignored.
Anyone have any gold making tips?
Interesting. I thought Alistair was by far the easiest Bioware romance I’ve ever done. All you have to do is talk to him all the time, say the nicest thing / agree with him, give him his mother’s amulet and a couple choice gifts. I had him locked down after the Circle and Redcliffe quests.
I like Alistair because he is a nice combination of Carth (same cheesy lines, same intense sense of justice) and Kaidan (a little sheltered, a bit of a geek).
Hopefully, this isn’t spoiler, but there is a one and only chance to start a romance with Leliana very early in the game. After that, you can’t. Then you’ll need 100 points in Approval to… Yeah.
I was having gold issues too. My suggestion is to do the Paragon quests. I went from 30 gold to 130 gold. But, you’ll need high persuasion.
There’s a quest called Precious Metals in Dust Town from Rogek, but you’ll need 50 gold in order to start it. If you have high persuasion, you can start from 50 gold, lose 40, travel to Circle Tower and Speak to Godwin (the closet guy) to gain 65 gold + a dagger to sell, then back to Rogek for another 25 gold (ask for 30). So, you’ll go from 50 to 100 gold + a dagger.
You’ll need to run back and forth between other quests in Orzammar before you get the coin to do the above.
Ok. Now, that I’ve finished it, I have to agree. Orzammar is a slog fest. I had to run back and forth because my inventory kept filling up. Or, I didn’t do a quest properly.
I still recommend doing Broken Circle first for the Attributes and getting some coin for a quest in Orzammar that allows you to double your gold if you maxed persuasion.
Alistair and Leliana aren’t hard to romance, in fact both romances are fairly easy, but in comparison to Morrigan and Zevran they are easier to mess up and miss out on. Morrigan and Zevran are just easier by comparison. Honestly Alister is the only male romance option Bioware has done that I actually like. I couldn’t stand either Carth and hated Kaiden by default simply because he sounded like Carth. Leliana is now my favorite romance option ever from Bioware.
Hm. I think I’ll make my mage a woman then and go after Leliana.
Don’t forget to let Oghren watch. d:
WAIT WHAT
Will do. I love that dialogue in the camp.
I’ve done her romance with both male and female PC’s and I prefer her romance as a female PC. All but one of my female PC’s has romanced Leliana, and most of my male PC’s as well. I just find Leliana adorable she reminds me a bit of Gabrielle during the last couple of seasons of Xena, a bit naive and innocent but with deadly martial skills.
Umm… I was kidding. Notice the " d: " and lack of spoiler quotes? (:
And, Leliana’s armor keeps becoming more risqué as the game progresses. First, she starts out in a chantry outfit, then…
Wait, that’s just my play through huh?
Getting back on track, I’m not sure I’ll play female or try to romance Morrigan in another play through. I’m one of those guys who try to identify with my character. I don’t mind playing female in table top D&D, but only because I know the other players and GM won’t try to make trouble for me… Well, they did, but not because my character was female.
Also, Morrigan is a bit too…morally ambiguous. I doubt I’ll ever play “evil.”
I really was trying for Leliana, don’t know what I did to mess it up because the whole way through I picked options that seemed more inclined towards a relationship than friendship
You do realize you do emoticons backwards, don’t you?
I’m left-handed. The right-handed people are backwards.
At least, I’m in my right mind. Non-lefties can’t say that. d:
I looked at my character details on the Bioware social site this morning and saw this:
This character is the beast!!
666 kills if you missed the reference.
No, I dunno why they list him wearing a shield when he’s using a two-handed sword. Maybe he’s just that good?
This is cool. It is interesting to have your progress available outside the game.
This character is the Beauty!!
Don’t you have two weapon sets?
The second weapon slot is disabled when using a two-handed weapon. The slot should be empty or show the same weapon. Definitely shouldn’t show a shield. d: He doesn’t even have any DW skills.
What’s up with your friendly fire number?
Hit me up with an invite on the social site if you want. I’m fastcart there as usual.
