Dr. Who -Catching up: (spoilers) "The Shakespeare Code" and "Gridlock"

So I’ve been trying to catch up on my Dr. Who. I’m still in early 3rd season.
Last night I watched “The Shakespeare Code” and “Gridlock”. Wow, these episodes just keep getting better.

I love that The Doctor makes a Back to the Future/Marty McFly reference in “The Shakespeare Code”. Also some Harry Potter references (which went over my head cuz I haven’t read any H.P.).

Now comes my Netflix dilemma: do I put X-Men 2, Sneakers or the next Dr. Who DVD next in my Netflix queue. Decisions, decisions…

You have a lot of great viewing (and a couple of duds) ahead of you! We watched gridlock for my kids’ Doctor Who party. I had all of the kids make little sonic screw drivers and we buzzed the screen every time the Doctor used his; which is about every 2 seconds in this episode.

Word of warning, if you are watching with your kids, be aware of “Blink” and, next season, “Silence in the Library”. Scared the pants off mine.

I actually hated Gridlock the first time I saw it, but now it is one of my favourites. In Shakespeare, I laughed when Martha told the Bard how bad his breath was. A little nod to the fact that we are hygiene obsessed these days and would find a real visit to Elizabethan England quite smelly, no doubt.

No worries there. We wouldn’t let our girls anywhere near something like Doctor Who—too scary for them.

Preview the Sara Jane Adventures. It’s “Doctor Lite” and toned down a bit. Who tries to aim to the 9–13 and family market, SJA aims 8-11ish.

Well if you want to call/participate in this weeks show-I’d go X-men 2, next Doctor Who DVD, then X3, then cram Doctor Who until you get to a Christmas special in time for, um, Christmas.

That’s how I felt about old school Who when I was a kid - my parents would watch it when they thought we were asleep. But what little I saw scared the crap out of me.

Now, it’s just fun. Spouse is shocked that it doesn’t scare me, but well, I’m only in season 2…

Season 3 is probably my favorite season out of the new who. Although I really LOVE season 1 and 2 and 4. Season 3 had a lot of great episodes and very few misses. You’re in for a treat.

OK, Just watched Shakespeare Code and have Gridlock on right now.

Wow, Shakespeare Code was great fun. I loved the BTTF bit (no, the novelization!), and “Expelliarmus” had me nearly falling off the couch laughing. Spouse took his headphones off and said, hey, I heard something from Harry Potter!

Project watch Season 3 in 3 days is progressing nicely…
