Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb 8/24 @ 10PM ET

Huh, according to Wikipedia, this movie was a contemporary of Fail Safe and not a parody at all, despite the uncanny similarities. Some of these scenes are almost shot-for-shot. Weird.

Humans are tenacious to the point of their own destruction. That pretty much sums up this ending.

Nuclear Warhead
Handle with Care

bwhahahahahahaha!

Different visions of the same topic. We definitely need to see it now. Me no Netflix. Will need to subscrib again.

And the sexual innuendo is complete with Kong riding the missile to OUR doom.

Can’t stop laughing at Strangelove battling himself.

So, whaddya think, Badger?

The wicked sense of humour reminds me of RDM’s style with Battlestar. Humanity faced annihilation and fight for survival. But we need a gov’t and election and representation.

It’s definitely a darker, much more claustrophobic sort of film. Amazing cast though, particularly after watching 12 Angry Men. Definitely a must-see.

It was good. A bit oddly over the top, maybe too much. I suppose it’s a product of its time in that regard – making light of the subject to the point of ridicule, to show how absurd the whole concept really is. But thoroughly enjoyable.

Agreed. Absurd is the perfect word. When I first saw this I was on the kick that all relationships from politics to the office to family were related to schoolyard socialization. Us vs. Them type of stuff, this film pretty much nailed that for me.

Well, as I know you are, I am exhausted. I can’t even see straight. It’s all blurry. Nite, Badger!

A bitter midwesterner clinging to his nuclear bomb and religion with antipathy to those who are’nt like him.
(I love this movie)

You’re exactly right. And it definitely is just as true now as it was back then, possibly moreso. Ironic that a black & white movie could so perfectly satirize black & white thinking.

Yeah, I faded out long before that. At least I was awake long enough to put down the laptop before I fell asleep. :stuck_out_tongue:

Just finished it. It seemed really deep, but i am both not in the mood and too tired to care.
But i still mostly enjoyed it.
