Dollhouse

That it is. I really like her point about the possible relationship between Whedon the artist-character creator and Topher the scientist-character creator.

And running in feminist circles, it’s nice to read a positive thing about Dollhouse.

(sorry if it’s a bit difficult to get through… I’m used to reading that kind of thing so I don’t notice if it gets too jargony or anything)

Oh wow! Wash is totally ripped. Hubba hubba…

While I really enjoyed the chemistry between Ballard and Alpha and the unveiling of Alpha (even if it was kind of expected), I thought the episode was kind of meh. I mean, for one thing, security really blows in Dollhouse, and jus a lot of slightly annoying plotholes left and right.

But, I suppose seeing Wash is worth it.

I wondered about the security issue too, but then they like to keep their enemies close. Overall, I enjoyed this episode and I love it when enemies are forced to work together. I just hope there will be more after the finale because I keep hearing rumors that the show is cancelled.

Regarding Dollhouse security, it’s possible that if it’s truly a closed system and the official means of getting in and out are tightly monitored they might not bother as much with security inside the place. Think of it like Alcatraz – if you monitor the waters around it and make sure nobody enters or leaves who isn’t supposed to, it’s not really necessary to monitor inside the complex as much … right?

I had thought the same thing. And we know Alpha’s a genius and he got out before - so logically, there would have been a way for him to get back in.

I think Boyd was blinded by his relationship with Echo to only focusing on Ballard rather than on both. I’m not going to lie, Paul from behind in jeans, I’d get distracted, too  I wonder what Adele will make of that blindspot. And Dominic had been communicating with Alpha? Curious.

And even though I think nearly all of us knew that reveal was coming - wow, it still surprised me and freaked me out. As I said last night, creeeeeeeeeeepy!

I don’t think that Dominic was communicating with Alpha, I think that Alpha knew that Dominic would be able to get the picture and figure out that he needed to go to Arizona and get him out of the Dollhouse. He was sending info to bait Dominic away from the Dollhouse so that he could break in.

Hmm. Well, the way they showed Ballard and Alpha getting in was quite ingenious, IMHO. No one is paranoid enough to wire ventilation shafts, and motion sensors in a building where people are coming and going at all hours is entirely impractical. (Trust me. It’s my job to know.)

Plus, it would make sense to handle it all on location, as well. This is a sooper-secret operation, right? You don’t want ADT to send out the cops every time someone accidentally trips an alarm. And hacking that system when you’re sitting at a terminal connected to that system would not be difficult if you knew what you were doing.

Ah, I had assumed that they had since Victor-as-Dominic said something to the effect that other messages used the greek alphabet or something like that. Though as always I might be misremembering.

Dominic said that Alpha used to write his name a lot in an artistic way so he figured that Alpha would be the password. I think it was Adele that suggested using the Greek letter for the password instead of using “Alpha”.

I’m a week behind, so I’m not going to read the posts above. LA LA LA

But…I just caught last week’s episode and I think that maybe, just maybe, I may finally have gotten hooked. I hope the show DOES come back for a second season. Pity it took this long to get this good.

One thing: after the Weddle/Thomson CSI about the Star Trek/BSG type reimagining and now this episode with the conversation between Topher and Sierra about classic sci-fi and its problems, is every former BSG writer writing in-jokes about their old gig on their new shows? Cause I like it.

That was awesome. I already knew who Tudyk was playing, but an element of doubt entered into my mind during the episode. He’s such a great actor. I really hope this show gets renewed. Somehow I doubt it. The early episodes were a bit slow, but it’s really finding its feet now.

Like someone flipped a switch over there–cuz it got real good all of a sudden

I was aaallllmost ready to give up on it but once we hit the sixth episode forward I bought in. I do sincerely hope that it gets renewed. I’m not overly hopeful, but it sure looks like the fall is going to be heavy on the cop dramas* so Fox might keep it for diversity.

*I can watch cop dramas with half an eye any day of the week but since we’re getting one with my celebrity girlfriend Katee Sackhoff(!) and another with my good friend Bradley Whitford, I’ll be tuning in more purposefully come the fall.

I never thought that the guy who played Wash was any great actor. I always give “comic relief” actors a free pass and don’t critisize too much, but never realy give them much credit either.

after the last episode I think he is great. I always liked wash… but that is an easy part. Alpha… that was great acting.

There is a pretty good interviewwith him over at io9. He talks about playing Alpha and makes brief mentions of the V reboot. The interview is lightly spoilery but not to bad (I am a spoiler hater and i wasn’t offended)

Mr Lister Sir beat me to it—
Alan T is no joke…even when he’s funny as hell

You know, I thought all this time that Alpha is some kind of a rebel and a freedom fighter figure, who busted out to wage a righteous war against the evil machine that is the Dollhouse. Turns out, he’s just a fucking nut. I can’t say I’m not a little disappointed.

Finished the ep. last night. I thought it was odd that they were giving AT such a small, quirky role. But I shrugged it off and thought it was a token cameo by one of the Joss Whedon Repertoire. Then he started slashing sh*t up.

I also wouldn’t have guess he could do crazy psycho so well. Big ups.

“Falling now” – also heard in Buffy – is my favorite Whedonesque phrase.

The show is so, so good now. I’m converted. I won’t be Firefly-bummed if it doesn’t come back, but bummed I will be.

Dunno if y’all read the interview, but apparently Joss has it mapped out for six seasons. So I guess it goes deep.

Plus I am in love with Sierra. Now that Victor is out of the way… I am one step closer!!!
