Did the fragile body of Gaius Baltar survive the nuclear attack on Caprica?

As one who personally ducked and covered (under a school desk, predictably), I can attest to the effectiveness of the practice. I have long believed that exposure to nuclear explosion radiation does not explain the 6th finger on my left hand.

Hello! My name is-a Topgun! You-a killed my father!
Prepare to die.

Princess Bride reference. Nice one.

Princess whut?

I have to think that if “duck and cover” meant “duck and cover underneath a blonde model” those films would be much more popular…

So now that we’ve seen what happened to Starbuck, what say you all? Roman Sandstorm agrees with me that Baltar died in the miniseries blast (as replayed in the credits), so I feel especially secure in this.

Besides, I guessed wrong-ly on most of the major revelations, so I feel like I’m bound to get one right eventually.

That is a good point. I’ve believed that Baltar and Starbuck fill the same role in two spiritual camps. However, I actually doubt that RDM would go for such derivative Zoroastrian silliness.

Or that RSS was bound to get one wrong. (Sorry)

Do we now have Charbuck and Blastar ?

What if…

Starbuck and Baltar are two of the original 5 priests…

no, no, NO! shakes head.

Harbingers of doom are usually sent by god. So how does Baltar fit in?

No, no, no! Starbuck is the harbinger of death. Baltar is the herald of of the Apocalypse. Totally different.

I always get those confused.

So would school, if everyone had their own personal Six for the drills

Props to dxf for the cool thread title

Yeah he survived. They just wanted to make a damn cool scene, and achieved that, it became one of the icons of the new BSG. All the problems with radiation, the amount of energy etc…artistic liberty.

Ok, just been alerted to this thread.

I believe Baltar died in the blast.

So, how soon afterwards, he is then running through a meadow with only a gash on his face and a leather briefcase in his hand has me completely stumped.
I’ve been asking this question since the mini-series.

I completely agree with you.

Exactly. Here’s a non-answer: The same way Kara Thrace comes back in a shiny new raptor, memories intact, with the same tattoo.

Gods! Don’t you just love this show !

The scene is just “OOOOH!” material and he’s the same guy.

I am with everybody on this.
Baltar should have “died” in the blast on Caprica and his eventual placement in the meadow in a state of confusion parallels Kara’s return…which means he may also have been “resurrected” by the same process As when you first watch him that scene he is totally bewildered by how he got there.
It is also possible that the apartment sequence could have been a manifestation of his guilt that he imagined and it never really happened as we saw it for real.
In any case, Baltar seems to have been “planted” in that meadow.

. I have always thought that once there was a human cylon interaction whether it was through , blood transfusion or sex, such activities would transfer the head manifestations.
Roslyn’s could be dismissed to Kamala or attributed to the blood transfusion, but Tigh (for obvious reasons) and Baltar both see head manifestations so how is Baltar’s explained.

Going back to the miniseries I hope the plan will answer something i have wanted to hopefully have answered from the start:

Scene on Caprica (after Baltar exits) of Six Looking up as she turns and states “It’s about time. I wondered when you’d get here.”
