Did Daybreak Part 1 stink?

Voted “no”.

Yeah, it was a set-up episode, but I’m fine with that for the finale. I didn’t want anything answered in this one: I wanted time to come to terms with the fact that there’s only one new episode of Galactica proper ever to look forward to. And the way that they did that was beautiful and very sad: flashbacks to Caprica, when nobody (except Caprica Six) had any inkling of what was ahead. And then the dips back into the present as true set-up.

Judging on what I’ve seen this season, especially Season 4.5, I think it’s entirely possible that Daybreak I will end up on the suck side. But at the same time, I hold out hope this is all going to work together with the remaining hours. So…at this moment, the episode does not suck IMHO.

In fact, I thought it was beautiful. But then I’m partial to scenes from Caprica and especially those at Baltar’s house for some reason. I just felt that all those flashbacks belonged in Season 3 or something. But like I said, I’ll give RDM the benefit of a doubt and hope they’ll make sense late Friday night.

BTW, it’s been really good to see Baltar again. The painful scene with him and Six a few weeks ago, the backstory with his father, then his almost crossing the line (please cross that damn line on Friday, Gaius!) were all moving for me, surprisingly.

I agree 100%

I loved it - even without seeing the finale.

Words. Mouth. You took 'em.

I just re-watched Daybreak, Part 1, and I agree with you. On 2nd viewing, I could relax a bit and just take in and enjoy much more of the details.

You know, you hit on something - getting too close to the show so that one is actually tense when watching it in the sense of - THIS BETTER BE GOOD OR ELSE!

“If you want to know he how eats and breathes and other science facts, try to remember its just a show and maybe you should just relax - it’s Mystery Science Theater 3000” - opening song. Perhaps good advice.

Yup, you got it.

I will say that if my closest family members died I wouldn’t walk to a local fountain and lay in it. But maybe I’m just a bit more private that Laura Roslin is. I’ve got a shower at home.

Sometimes shock makes people do the incomprehensible.

I really like it the first time, but loved it the second time also.
