Provided technology prevails I will be joining you !! After all, it was Solai that turned me on to Eddie on this very Forum, way back in it’s first days…and a big TY for that, Solai !!
That is honestly great to hear my friend. The only way Eddie could get any cooler is if he were to appear in Firefly. (he did appear in the Ocean’s movies…so that is a close second)
Oh, blessed day – finally, a forum where people will understand my propensity to randomly blurt out, “Cake or death!” or “Let’s see…secret password…eight million possibilities…let’s try…‘Jeff’ – hey!”
I saw Eddie perform at the Town Hall in NYC the night they recorded his Circle tour, and I only wish that Ella Entertainment (the distributors) someday offer a collector’s edition of his stand-up, complete with all the material that was edited from the final cut. Twenty spiraling minutes of comparisons between Pope “Johnny Paul” and squirrels, and the extended bits on his “Death Star” routine were priceless!
Definite Article, Dress to Kill, and Circle contain all of my philosophies that I try to live by. I could probably also give you a one-man reenactment of these performances from memory. Which is remarkable, considering I can’t even remember my parents’ birthdays.
It’s probably a good idea that I speak no longer on this subject, lest I ruin it for those of you who’ll be watching it for the very first time. It’s priceless, you’ll love it.
Parents, Birthgivers, Cloning technicians… what’s the difference? Fine, if you wanna get hung up on details about it, I’ll stop referring to Dr. Moreau as a “parent”.
Jeezy-creezy in a sidecar, Tray, it’s like talking to a twin. (Adjacent test tubes, perhaps?) You didn’t include “Unrepeatable” in there…have you not seen it, or was it just not that memorable?
Well, I was trying to trim it down for the general GWC audience consumption. I really, really wanted the good people of GWC to really like Izzard, as much as I do. So I wanted to go with the more approachable material first.
I feel that Circle, Dress to Kill and Definite Article are the easier way to introduce American audience to Izzardverse. I consider Unrepeatable, Glorious, Sexie to be intermediate course, and Live at Ambassador to be an advance elective. (To be honest, I thought Sexie was just kinda ok. He’s clearly experimenting with different style that just didn’t fly with a lot of people. Either that, or he’s completely high and unprepared and just totally winging it on stage. If that’s the case, it’s actually rather impressive.) For the truly bored, there’s We Know Where You Live, if you can stand to wade through tens of crappy comics, just to get to 5 minutes of Izzard.
I didn’t catch Stripped in person, and it’s kinda hard to follow what’s going on in Youtube clips. (In a related note, you with cellphone video of the show on youtube! Your cinematography sucks, and your girlfriend coughs too much. You suck.) I’m looking forward to the DVD release.
(Of course, for the Trekkies among us, it bears to mention that Unrepeatable has a hilarious closing bit about Startrek stuff. Really worth watching. We’ll get around to that.)
BTW, speaking of you being my long lost evil twin (let’s face it, you’re the one with facial hair), I remember you commenting on my love for Metisse with your love Imogen Heap, Zero7, Sia, The Devlins, etc. That’s when I thought to myself, “he’s looking at computer screen! He knows what’s on my iTunes! Ahhh”
You should know, I found your hidden cam. My lawyer will be there to give you the restraining order, and a destroy the video files.
For those of you wondering why this hasn’t started yet, we are waiting for more people to arrive before we commence with the festivities. Word on the street is that others are running 10~20 minutes behind. Stay tuned.
Sweet!, Topgun, Lady D, Spoon and me. All here. I thought Keir the New Guy was gonna join us too… eh, he’s already seen this, he can catch up in the middle.
