Now, my thoughts on Season Four (my favorite yet) are up.

I did. It was a well written and concise review of each season filled with great insights.

In your season one review you mention not being able to pick a favorite character. That is the beauty of DS9. The characters are so rich and fascinating that it is really difficult to pick just one. Out of all the Star Trek series, DS9 really hashes out all the characters.

Great picks for your top / bottom 3 in the Season Two review. You mention Louise Fletcher’s performance in ‘The Collaborator’. She was absolutely amazing throughout the series. The Star Trek gods smiled upon the producers when they landed her for the role of Kai Winn.

In your Season Three review you name Odo your favorite character, for now. I can see that but Odo was always better with Kira or Quark at his side. He’s less interesting on his own. I’m not sure if that is on purpose or not, as his stark quarters may suggest. Pairing Odo with Kira was brilliant and came about because of a side comment during one of the writer’s meetings.

IMO, the Ferengi episodes are like a spin-off series. They are fun and it was important to have a fun element to contrast the rest of the series. I’m sorry you don’t like the Grand Nagus. Whenever he’s onscreen it is a bit jarring but I dig him.

Improbable Cause/The Die is Cast is an absolutely fabulous piece of work.

The Gamma Quadrant podcast is on the episode Starship Down this week. A commentor in their discussion section said the baseball cap that Captain Sisko tossed to Kira by the end of the episode, inviting her to an baseball game, is a cap from the Homestead Grays of the old Negro Leagues.

The only player i know from the Homestead Grays is Josh Gibson, and I only know because of “Soul of the Game” TV movie.

As a baseball fan, such trivia is pretty exciting. And I love how DS9 slipped that one in. I wonder if it was Avery Brook, the writers, or the producer’s idea to put that in. Probably Avery…

I petered out before the end of the second season. Plot-wise, is it okay to just pick up in S3, or at the end of S2? So tired of stand-alone eps.

I think S3 picks up a bit…but if you want the goods…you can jump to S4 when it gets really interesting

It’s a little like Babylon 5 that way. S1 is meh, S2 better…S3-S4 frakkin phenominal

If you watch the final two episodes of S3, and then move into S4 you’ll be in good shape. Those final two really shape the how the rest of the series is going to play out, and how the major powers in the quadrant are going to work. S4 is when things really start to get going with the main plot of the series.

Yeah. I probably will. My girlfriend has recently finished reading a couple, and I’ll probably read those as well. I know I already have one on my Kindle and one sample, so yeah, I’m sure I’ll be reading at least some of them. :slight_smile:
