I remember this was an arcade game in the late 70’s. It was really primitive, as I recall the people were stick figures. It was also shocking due to the subject matter but once you ran a couple of people down you got used to it. Not sure if that’s good or bad…

It was my fav’ until Star Defender came out.

Death Race 2000 is my all time favorite B movie. Just the fact that you have two well known actors in lead rolls in the cheesy sci-fi flick makes it a must watch, but it had a good concept of what America could become someday.

The scary parts is a remake is in the works. I never saw the Rollerball remake, but all accounts I have heard have been negative. I cannot see how a remake of Death Race 2000 can match the cheese of the original. Maybe if they go for a more serious dark version it might work. If they go for the campy feel of the original it will fail. Heck, who could take the place of that awesome announcer/anchor guy.

If anyone is looking for more cheesy b-movies, try Frakinhooker. If you have not seen this 1990s b-movie, then rent it for a good laugh.

Jonathan Jonathan Jonathan. Last scene was great. I also love the part where they take out that “modern” weapon in the 70’s motif house and blow up the trees.
