Well, they needed to find something, so it looks like Racetrack got a “Get out of Jail Free” card.
That’s what I was thinking!! One last chance for redemption for Racetrack! Whoo-hoo!
It looks like we’re heading for one last shoot-em-up, Galactica v. Colony. Huzzah!
I caught that bit last night, just re-watched the preview on the DVR and came to the same conclusion that that was RaceTrack, too.
I love people-coming-together-for-one-final-mission stories. The face-off at the Black Gate in Lord of the Rings, the recapture of DS9, the end of 13th Warrior–everyone setting aside their issues, taking up arms together, and making the last, possibly sacrificial push to save the day. It’s sad and noble and desperate and heroic all at the same time. I love the way it looks in the preview like each of the characters is making the decision to join the last fight with the Galactica. I wish Dee and Gaeta had stuck around to see this.
Me too. I even wish Zarek was still around, and definitely Kat. Unless they don’t get a triumphant ending, and then I think I’ll be fine with them missing out on even more tragedy.
Everyone should feel obligated,
No one was forced to leave Nu-Caprica!, everyone in the fleet it seems joined of their own free will in the Exodus.
Yeah, a part of me keeps reminding the rest of me how things on BSG usually end, but I have the feeling that the characters have been through the crap they’ve needed to go through and may be rewarded with a resolution. For some, that might mean death, but hopefully a meaningful death. For others who have been hateful, petty, violent, and deceitful, it might be a just death. And then, maybe, a few survivors will get the chance to start over on a nice little habitable planet somewhere. Not all the problems solved, but at least a chance to keep living a life they’ve learned to appreciate.
It also looks like we’re finally getting the old Adama back. I think we will finally get to see everyone at their finest. (Like Starbuck kicking some serious sorryBarb)
The music score to the final scene of “Islanded” with the camera pulling away from Adama & Tigh on the sofa was reminiscent of the tracks for “The Shire” from Howard Shore’s Lord of the Rings scores.
Yeah, I love that bagpipey-poundy-drum theme. It used to just come up during father-son-Adama moments, but then it gradually became a sort of nostalgic military theme for the Admiral. Bear also reprised the Adama-Roslin theme during their…uh, relaxing time…in the sickbay. It’s definitely feeling like old school BSG again.
They just need her incredible ‘finding missing stuff’ skills to locate the cylon colony. You know noone else could do it…
It’s nice to be part of the Forum… here, at the end of all things.
<sniff>
It would have been cool to see Zerek and Gata forced to stand up with Adama. Oh well, this will do
I am just the Galactica will going out in a blaze of glory rather than being scuttled for spar parts by the civilian fleet.
Does anyone else think that Lee is going to jump back into a Viper for one last mission.
Post-Daybreak, Part 1:
Looks like your gonna get your wish (and mine), Glim. It’s such a sci-fi cliche, but I still love those stories, anyway.
Even more heartbreaking, now… if Dee and Gaeta had been asked to decide which side of the Red Line to stand, I’d like to think they would have been on the Starboard side. But as Ellen said in No Exit, “[They] did what they thought was right. That’s all any [person] can do.” I guess all we can do is lament the characters that made what they thought was the “smart” decision, instead of the “right” one.
At least we still have Racetrack.
Just watched Daybreak Part 1, good to see the Old Man back.
That’s for damn sure. It’s ok if manly-men cry (like the Company in LOTR when Gandalf died… hell, I shed a tear when I was reading the book – hey, I’m not a robot… or am I? OOOOooooOOOOoooo)… but get over it, and get back out there and kick some Cavil a$$.
