Current BSG video game

I was speaking with a friend who told me that…At his local Barnes and Noble there was a BSG video game for home systems on sale…

In this game you can fly missions in various craft…Up to and including heavy raiders and even old fashion vipers…

Thought I would share this with all of you…

I’ve not checked this personally, but I believe my source…

Just in case you want to read the reviews before purchasing it: on Metacritic.

That looks like the same one my brother picked up for $5 at Fry’s about 5 months ago. Heard it, uh…sucks.

You can also download it on xbox live.

It’s okay, but nothing amazing.

If you’re looking for a good BSG game, check out Beyond the Red Line.

Which of course should only be played in the proper surroundings…

I gave Beyond the Red Line a run and wow… VERY impressive!

However it’s one of the MOST complicated games I ever played and those raiders are insanely fast.

I am not sure how to play this online with multiplayer… but I can tell right now this nugget isn’t ready :stuck_out_tongue:

The BSG inspired chatter is great and the characters really feel like they are right from the show… tho none of the game characters are characters from the show… there’s clearly one that does a great Starbuck and my fave voice sounds like Baltar in a viper lol

I’m hitting a ceiling on the long and difficult SCAR-esque mission… I run out of ordinance! it takes me so long to take out a raider after 3-4 I’m out of bullets. I guess missles are scarce in the fleet… That frakkin raider that takes out Green2 (Slingshot) has been taking me out every time.

I do like the open ended aspect of the game… I feel like my actions really effect the missions. I (somehow) broke orders and patrolled an area and rode afterburners to the fight and ended up saving the leader of blue squadron… the gun-happy nugget of course was killed but in the first run I got lost and my wingman Gavel died (Baltar!) but this time we both rode in and saved Blue Leader. Not a bad result this time…

In the Scar mission, we were protecting the mining ship when cylons show up (of course), I lost quite a bit of ordinance already shooting incoming asteroids (feels like the 80s) so I was in the whole when I had to the cylons came in and out numbered us… I couldn’t save Slingshot’s viper (don’t think it’s possible) nor my wingchick, Nova (might be possible) but of course the asshole pilot from the Pegasus (who mourns Nova’s death as a loss of “a nice piece of ass”) refuses to help me rescue the stranded Slingshot so of course it’s a trap and “scar” swings in to kick my ass and I have like 10% ammo left. On my last rounds I called Pegusus asshole to assist who leaves the Mining ship which then in turn suffers so much damage it has to jump back to the fleet (oops… forgot about the asteroids) I eventually run out of ammo and play tag with Scar and his new cylon buddy… but soon enough red squad cavs up and cleans up the mess… having no ammo and huge sense of failure I quit the mission and plan to rethink my strategy for the next attempt.

All in all, VERY cool game… it FEELS like you are a real Viper pilot… unfortunately the controls are about as complicated as flying a REAL viper… there’s like 100 unique controls to learn and flying in zero g in the galaxy’s most maneuverable fighter is about as tough as you think it would be. I’m sure experienced flight sim players will find a lot to sink their teeth into, the casual and novice gamers will definitely be intimidated by the controls (I wish I had a joystick… keyboard and mouse for me.) but I think it will be worth it for the story and experience once I learn how to fly better :stuck_out_tongue:

Is there thread for this game here? I could use some tips…

Yes, Beyond the Red Line is extremely hard to play. Fun though. Need to figure out why the sim pulls to the right. We were going to use the excuse of solar winds causing a drift  So you just have to keep a little left rudder in it. Need to get a better setup at home so I can practice.
