Crewman Lon Suder

IMO Lon Suder, portrayed by Deadwood’s/LOTR’s Brad Dourif, was the all time best (extended) guest star. A psychotic Betazoid!!!..how better can you get than that?! He was the very antithesis of Deanna Troy. It’s a shame Voyager didn’t keep him on the show as a recurring character. He could’ve easily been Voyager’s Elim Garak. I would’ve loved to have seen a flashback episode where Suder is in the trenches with Chakotay and the other Maquis, killing Cardasians with reckless abandon.

As much as I agree with you, I don’t think it would have worked. Voyager for whatever reason always seem to dumb-down their great ideas and characters. Probably pressure from TPTB. The show started the trend that continued with Enterprise of constantly trying to define itself.

A character with the complexity you’re describing would drown and compete with the likes of Seven and the Doctor. Unlike DS9 which handled the delicate balance of so many characters, Voyager became The Adventures of Seven.

Not to digress, I just gotta say: There’s many, many great reasons to watch Deadwood (maybe one of my favorite TV shows of all times), but if nothing else Dourif’s performance in Deadwood is reason enough.

I agree wholeheartedly. Deadwood was and is still one of my all-time favorite shows. Every actor/actress was incredible and memorable.

Just learned that Brad Dourif was the voice of Chucky. How about that?

…just so that we’re on the same page; we’re talking about the guy who played Grima Wormtongue, right? I remember he was the voice of Chucky

and Piter de Vries

…it just occured to me; this guy could play the live-action version of Freakazoid!
