Unexpectedly wound up at Shore Leave. Bonus, going back tomorrow. Check the flickr pool for updates.

My very own Tricorder
I am finally back on the forum!
I finished up my first session of summer classes (Statics and Cal III), and have started my second (easier) session (Psychology and Shakespeare). There was a horrible 2 week period where I had 3 classes (Cal III is an 8 week course), but that’s over now, and the only outside work I have to do is reading (at least until the night before my 10 page paper is due ). This all means that I will now have more time to spend on the forum.
I also just got my car fixed. I haven’t been able to roll my windows down for the last year, and my tire was completely flat (thanks to a “pretty good size screw”, which I’m assuming is some sort of technical term) when I got home from classes a week ago. I’ve been driving my mom’s car, and I’m glad to have mine back.
And finally, by Friday I should have a brand spankin’ new laptop! My scholarship pays for one, and I look forward to playing with it next weekend. The one I have now (with its minuscule hard drive) will be generously bequeathed to my technologically challenged father.
Welcome back!

Ick. All I ever took during summer sessions was Earth Science and 4 PE credits.

Been there, done that. I spent a whole semester driving my mom’s minivan. Ugh…

Enjoy! And may I also say that I’m glad the hubs and I aren’t the only ones who “trickle-down” their computers. Only the last one we gave my MIL died about 6 weeks ago and it was less hassle and almost the same price to buy her a new one instead of replacing her systemboard. Other than we now have to make a return trip to her place next weekend to set it up!
Dude, I am SOOOOOO frakkin’ jealous right now. SQUEE!

See, now the Calculus of Shakespeare would be an interesting class: Newtonian equations in Iambic pentameter!
I’m giving you guys advanced warning: Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. I need you all to set those Good Will Phasers on ultra-Karmic overload. The Mrs. has an interview for a job she REALLY, REALLY wants at a very cool company (they design museum and educational exhibits. Their work is VERY impressive). They’ve decided to skip the phone interview phase and go directly to an in-person session with her, which we both take as good vibes, but every little bit helps.
Abso-frakkin-lutely, dude!
Oh wow! Will do
Isn’t he the cutest thing?
I almost picked this one up myself.
Instead I got
And of course
Follow-up to last week’s agent news.
On Friday, the agent in charge of women’s fiction sent me an email and asked for hard copy of my book synopsis and first 50 pages. Today I made a fancy “I’m a professional” folder with a cover letter, writing resume, the synopsis and the spiral bound 50 pages. I should hear something in 3-4 weeks. Keep fingers crossed please. At the very least, I’ll get feedback on the pages, which will be really helpful.
Woohoo!! Go Dawn!! Go Dawn!!
Ooh! Fingers are crossed for ya!

Keep in mind friends, if the agent doesn’t want me and I get tough feedback on my MS, I’ll be back to hanging out on the Bitch and Moan thread!
Don’t forget that Theodor Geisel’s first book was rejected by 27 publishers. He finally got it published and it launched an empire…(btw his middle name was Seuss and he was not even a doctor.)
I hope it works out…and we see you back in this happy thread…
Okay, weird one, does anyone know where to get 1/6 scale dolls house parts from? It’s for 1/6 scale console room model based on a TV show about a dude in a blue box…
…that I have to have built and painted within 2 weeks!
Oddly enough you can find it here

snort One of the wonders of the internet is the “so obvious I would never think of it” link. I’ve come across more than a few of those on my own.
