Cool craaaaaap you've acquired/done lately

My thots to your thots. May the Great Bird of the Galaxy shine on you!

Congratulations, 'Talos. You have now joined a select, select group.

I hope it went well and that you’r enow employed. I would’ve sent some positive energy your way, but at 11 a.m. I was, well,…the less said about where I was the better, really.

I don’t know how to take that.

Congrats, SB, and good luck! I just got hired at a temp staffing agency today (for food service workers, not office, but same idea), and that should help plug the holes in my work schedule that are causing my checking account to bleed into the negative. Add to that, today I also had a really great conversation over the phone with a guy at a local studio who complimented my demo reel all up and down and hopes to meet with me in the next month. Not a for sure deal, of course, but it does wonders for the ego.

I just watched that episode on line last night. Fan-frakkin-hilarious!

I didn’t read this until about 3:40 PM ET, so I’m sending positive energy back in time for you. Hope it helps!

Helped. Will have helped. Would have done helping.

Time travel makes grammar so complicated. :frowning:

A couple weeks ago, I bought a 500 GB external hard drive.

Badger, I know your heart’s in the right place.
BUT WHAT ARE YOU, CRAZY!!
You can’t send positive energy backwards through time without first polarizing the event field!!
Don’t you even CARE what you’re doing the Space Time Continuum?

I gots me a new Toshiba Laptop!!! i can finally join the Frak Parties again!!

You’re supposed to take it well, of course.

And ew. That’s one of the few South Parks that I just can’t handle the potty humor. ew.

Oh no! I spoiled the milk!

And there was much rejoicing! :stuck_out_tongue:

yaaaaaay

I am being strong and fast forwarding through the BSG adds on SCIFI.

Cross your fingers but i may have come up with a way to save two of my guys jobs at work today. It was a hard sell, and if i’m really lucky i might save them all… I just need a little luck.

Armando… that is so mysterious. Now I really want to know where you were on Tuesday at 11.

Could all this meddling mean that maybe I already have a new job but I won’t be hired until next week? Stay tuned…

I am totally Toshiba loyal. Good choice. My little machine is puttering along 3.5 years and several moves later and we are very happy together. It’s also my second Toshiba. Unless Mac puts better speakers into their notebooks I am not making that switch, so I’ll probably end up with a third Toshiba before 2010.

Nickname Boomer = awesome. There are a number of us here who have joined the ranks of the un/der employed and it’s good ot know that you are doing all you can to save your ppl from the same fate.

Speaking of jobs, the Tuesday interview went pretty well. We spoke for about an hour and she seemed to like me and my style of communicating. I definitely have the right skills for the job. It will depend on who else they interview, I guess. She told me that I will know next week about second round interviews, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Also, I got home and immediately started the two day-ling vomiting spree that sent me straight to bed on the bathroom floor. It’s strange to say, but I was like “Thank god!” because imagine how horrible it would be to barf on your interviewer’s shoes.

Trust me, you don’t. It wasn’t pretty. I was, however, at home. Leave it at that.

Here’s hoping.

Oh. So I guess you DO know what I was doing on Tuesday at 11 then. <blush>

Congrats SB! I mean congrats about the good interview, not about the vomiting.

I just got accepted into a short film competition!!!

Without equipment of my own, I’ve had no way to continue work on my documentary, which I started last year. So I submitted my work-to-date along with a proposal to a short film competition at my local public access station. My proposal was accepted, and now I have two-and-a-half months to create a three-minute trailer for my documentary to enter into the competition. If I win, I get a cash prize and local exposure of the trailer. If I lose, I have a three-minute trailer to shop around for funding. Win-win.

This is my work so far:

I started shooting it the day my grandma died, and I’m planning an investigation into an old building that may once have been a bar owned by my great-grandpa during the Prohibition (the building’s in the beginning, during the driving montage).

Meanwhile, after eight, long, dry months, I think I’m finally getting some traction on this job hunt thing. I interviewed at a local coffee shop for shift supervisor–really nice place, locally owned, gets good tips from regulars. They need to work me into their schedule, but I’m pretty sure I’m hired. Next week, I hope to go to the bagel place and give my notice.

In the full-time-job hunt, I had a phone conversation this week with a guy at a local production studio to whom I’d sent my reel and resume. As I was introducing myself, he remembered me and started remarking about things he’d really loved in my reel. He said he has a lot of reels and resumes to wade through, but that mine stood out, and if I don’t hear from him in a month, to call him back.

Last week sucked–my account overdrew, and the student loan people started calling my parents. I was not looking forward to my birthday party tonight. I wasn’t even going to tell anyone about it, except that my twin sis was hyped up to make our big 3-0 an event. Now I think I’m ready to celebrate.

Stroogie, that’s awesome! I told you things would start looking up. It’s a slow, gradual process, but it’s a process, right? Congratulations on the acceptance and here’s hoping the production company comes through for you.

And don’t sweat the student loan people. I’ve had to apply for economic hardship deferment/forebearance for like the seventh year in a row this year. At this rate, I’ll NEVER pay off my master’s degree.

By the way, and this is a totally serious offer, if you ever need a non-pop based score (classical/symphonic, though I’m not sure I could provide you with that many players), please let me know. I’d totally love to do a film score someday and would be utterly pleased to do it to help out a GWC friend. It would be the epitome of awesomeness.
