what, you need a diagram?
Not at all. Former supermodel turned Reality TV (Project Runway) host. You’re cool.
Lady D? ???
That’s cool! Captures Kaylee perfectly.
I know. I’ve been trying to justify the $70 or so it’ll take to get her home while at the same time trying to decrease my credit card balance. I’m sure I’ll cave.
Yeah, when I first saw it, my immediate thoughts were:
- It’s kinda expensive.
- I’m gotta get it anyway, it’s just too adorable.
- OMG, it’s a Lady D figurine!
Lady D, you get the prize! I didn’t think anyone would get the reference right away.
Ah. Thanks. She does look good in a bra. :o
Cool thing I just did? I had a date with my wife. WITHOUT KIDS!!! For the first time in at least two years. Went to a concert (a frakking FANTASTIC concert. Some of the best playing I’ve heard in years) then went out for ice cream and a long drive. It was lovely.
Never underestimate the recuperative powers of ditching the kids for a few hours.
I caved. it’s on its way
what do I win? could it be…a shrubbery!!!
OK, WHERE did that smiley come from LadyD??? Awesome!!
I think that with that smiley WE are ALL winners! heh heh.
My hubby and I have season tickets to the theater. We go out to a fancy place to eat dinner and go to the show. We pretend to be rich once a month or so. Then we return to the daily boring life. You have to enrich your life to give to the children. That is my way of saying go out for ice cream or a dinner more often.
I am getting caught up with the class I am taking.
Oh, one thing I forgot to mention is that the only thing we paid for last night (other than gas, I suppose) was the ice cream. The tickets were given to me by the director of the concert series this was a part of (who is campaigning for me to be their next composer in residence starting in 2010. Fingers crossed!). So total cost of date: $9.25.
I got a full tank of gas - in Austria! I saved about 20 cents per liter! Wooot!
I know how that is. me and the Wife try to go out once a week, and we don’t even have kids. the big thing for us is money exchange since we live in Japan. sometime it’s cheap, and sometimes it gets up there. after dinner we always walk the streets and look at local shops.

We rarely get to go out, just the two of us. That’s why we spend the money for decent cable TV/DVR and Netflix. So, we’ve got entertainment at home. Still, we do go out occasionally and we enjoy how refreshing it is to eat a meal without having to discipline someone every 15 seconds. It’s amazing how less stressed you are at the end of a meal when you haven’t had to get increasingly angry at someone for sticking their tongue out at someone else…etc.
Our kids are generally well behaved (okay, Elena’s about as well behaved as a one year old can be), so that’s not so much an issue. These days we can’t really afford to go out to eat, though, unless it’s really cheap fast food (BLECH!). Movies are hardly worth it (hell, I haven’t been to a movie with my wife in almost two years) and we rarely get to go to concerts together (I refuse to get a symphony subscription as I’m tired of warhorses–nother topic for another board–so I end up going to concerts where I’ve been given tickets, like last night, which ends up meaning I have to schmooze a little afterwards, which makes it a little bit like work…but only a little) and can’t afford the theater (which is too bad since we live in a great theater town). So we takes what we cans get.
