Confession Time

So…first scene of “Pegasus” I have a beef with, when they find out that it is the Pegasus… what the frak is with that music?! It sounds like an after school special from 1983’s soundtrack

I think that Cmdr Adama might be regaining some respect for Boomer, after what she did for the fleet last episode. I noticed when he was telling the Admiral that they had a Cylon prisoner onboard, he refered to Sharon as “Her” instead of “it”, like he’s been doing.

During the scene where Cain is telling the Cmdr that she’s shuffling up the Viper pilots and Adama is disagreeing with her my first thought was…damn right! But, on reflection…I do see where she’s coming from and from a purely military and logical standpoint I think she’s right.

I don’t even know what to say about the brig scene. Just. No.

He deserved to have his head smashed in. That is all.

Did you watch the original version or the extended cut that came in the Season 2.5 DVD?

Pegasus is one of the more unbearable cliffhangers ever. I started watching that season, and by the end of the season break, I finally had a sense of who everyone was and what was going on. Then, BAM, TERRIBLY IMPERILED, NO EPISODES FOR A WHILE, ENJOY. Nooooooooooooo!

It was in 2.0 and whatever version Netflix Instant Watch wants to show me. It is my dark master (well, them and Starbucks. Two dark masters then  )

Yeah, I can’t imagine having to wait months for that to be resolved.

Can I also say that Ro Laren is a super biatch? I thought i’d mention that too.

I forget, everyone… are there spoilers in the Razor movie, or can Wesley watch it now?

I think there’re spoilers… (besides I wait until later in 2.5 to insert Razor)

I would watch everything in broadcast order the first time through, just to be sure

I’d prefer not to skip around, just in case.

Heck, I close my eyes or look away during the intro titles, when the drum beats kick in and you see little clips from the show you’re about to watch because I think they can reveal too much.

I think it’s best to wait until after The Captain’s Hand.
because the main timeline in it is right as Lee took command of Pegasus
Looks like I’ve returned to the forums at just the right time. SWU, since we both live in the same town, please PM me if you want to watch the extended edition of “Pegasus.” I’ll happily lend it to/watch it with you. You’ll love it.

I just read all your re-caps in one sitting, and felt my heart fluttering with anticipation like it did the first time I saw these episodes. One of the things I loved most about BSG was that I never knew what was going to happen next. So much of TV is formulaic and predictable, and being a writer myself, I tend to know a lot of storyteller tricks and conventions, and I can usually see them coming. But BSG always surprised me, always kept me in suspense. It was a refreshing punch to the gut every week.

And speaking of Pegasus, I also have Razor, and while I didn’t enjoy it that much, I recommend watching it after the Pegasus arc rather than in its broadcast order. Firstly, I don’t think it spoils anything. Second, there’s something of a time jump between the end of the Pegasus arc and the next regular episode, and it’s really awkward upon first viewing. Watching “Razor” would fill in that gap and make the transition smoother.

Just as I read this sentence, someone at the table next to me said the words, “Guardian Angel” out loud. Then he proceeded to joke with his friend that he was a figment of his friend’s imagination sent to watch over him, and the real him was sitting at home.
<<mind-frakked>>

Seriously, Wesley, HIT ME UP. I’ve been away from GWC for a while, and I’m happy to find a fellow St. Louisan among our crew now. I can’t afford trips to the meet-ups, so hanging out with an in-town GWCer would be grrreat!

So I had to turn up the volume on my televiusal machine a little bit for these two episodes, cause my heart was beating loudly in my ears. Srsly.
My hands were actually sweaty, cause I was anxious about what was going to happen. Crazy, cause it’s just a TV show.

Turns out that Cmdr Adama can be just as ruthless and cold as Cain, or so I thought about the both of them.

Laura is getting more and more of my respect as the series goes on, she’s growing as a leader. Able to make the really tough decisions (or rather the really tough recommendations).

At first when we meet Col. Fisk, he seems like the typical fat, morally ambiguous 2nd in command that just does whatever horrible thing the Admiral orders. But when he’s telling that story to Col Tigh about murdering those 2 families you can see that he’s very deeply affected by what he had a hand in doing. Also, when Cain tells him the plan to assassinate Adama, you can actually see his face fall, like he’s a marionette and his strings are being cut one by one. During the whole time he’s following orders, but you can clearly tell he does not want to do this and he thinks it is wrong.

Same goes for Starbuck. When she was walking down the corridor to “give her report” to Admiral Cain, she is walking like a zombie almost. Like she’s having to will her body to move forward.

I know that the Cylons are the enemy and they must be stopped, and I agree, but damn. Seeing all those Cylon bodies floating and burning when they attacked the Resurrection ship was a bit chilling.

But the most unexpected part about the whole two parter was the last minute or so. When Admiral Adama kisses Laura and smiles that crazy big smile. I did not see that coming.

Now that i’m done…it’s like Col Tigh said after the attack to Col Fisk “You look like you could use a drink”.

Me too (though I don’t drink, so maybe just some coffee)

Frankly, even though “Epiphanies” dealt with some pretty heavy issues, like death, abortion and terrorism, it still felt …lighter… and was a bit of a reprieve from the heavy emotional dealings of the last 3 episodes.

When that terrorist guy came into Adama’s office for the first time, just looking at him, I wanted to punch him in the nose. Just gut reaction. And when Adama is basically choking him later on, you can see Saul just between them and there is this awesome subtle look he gives that just relays “That’s right Mutha Fraka! That’s how we do!”. Awesome bit of very subtle acting on the part of Michael Hogan.

From what I gathered in this one, are they trying to say that Human-Cylon Hybrids are “perfect” beings? Interesting, if that’s what they’re getting at.

I wonder if Pres Roslin actually remembers any of the “visions” she had of remembering Baltar and Six before the attacks.

I’m glad Laura survives, I am loving her budding friendship with Bill Adama. And I hope to see that explored more.

And Baltar…oh you silly little man. Didn’t your mother ever tell you “not to give nukes to Cylons that are leaders of terrorist cells”? I know mine did.

Or as they called him on the cast, Captain Pee Pants. Because he always looks like he is about too… ya know.

As for Razor, I love it. I would watch it after the episode “The Captain’s Hand” (217) and before “Downloaded” (218). It does contain a spoiler for The Captain’s Hand, and I belive chronologically between these episodes is where the main story takes place. It was released between season 3 and 4, but I don’t see any story line reason for it to be viewed there.

Perhaps I gave him too much acting cred then…maybe he was just thinking about the port-a-potty :stuck_out_tongue:

Ugh! You just gave me chills, both of envy at your first time viewing and of anticipation for your future!

Yeah, nothing new to report. Just the same old same old. Sigh. I wish I could be a BSG virgin again.

LOL, the actor did a great job, I don’t disagree with what you said. But the reason Cain got away with what she did was because no one was willing to stand up to her. If Fisk had been a little more couragous he could have easily stopped Cain.
Stares Ominusly
Come back to this post when you’re done with the series. I will say no more.

Don’t we all? Reading this thread, I’m pretty sure I’m in for another BSG rewatch soon. Especially since season 2 was a particularly strong run for the series I thought.

Wesley, just in case, don’t read the following til you’re done with S2. I’m pretty sure it’s safe, and there are no literal spoilers that will give things away, but I tend to meld most of season 2 as a whole package (since I watched them all in a row to catch up with the series back then.) So, just in case, don’t read!

Maybe. Though, the presence of Roslin (or a form of government, even if it isn’t exactly the most democratic at times, to balance out the military power, and to shoulder its huge weight of the fate of the entire human race) seems the most striking difference between the Pegasus and the Galactica, and Fisk is no Roslin in that sense, courageous or not. Unlike Roslin, Fisk is still a part of the military, no matter if he defies Cain or not.

BTW, I don’t think the above is a spoiler.
I know what you are saying, but I think it is safe to say that even if it was Col. Tigh on the Pegusus things would have gone down differently. Or Lee.
Not to give away the “incident” in Razor, but that sort of thing only works so many times.
