The show is really, really good.
Last night’s episode, “Contemporary American Poultry,” featured a small Stargate gag. Plus, the show is awesome.
Seconded!
Community is fantastic, and last night’s ep didn’t disappoint.
Thirded! I loved the Goodfellas homage. And in addition to the “Star-Gate” headline, I thought maybe Troy’s pharaoh interview outfit was also a shout-out to SG. But maybe not.
The fact that Troy named his monkey “Annie’s Boobs” shouldn’t be so funny to me but it is. “Annie’s Boobs escaped. They’re on the loose; they could be anywhere!”
My wife never bothered to watch it with me basicly dismissing the show. She loved last nights though…now to get her caught up.
Best new comedy of the year.
You’re so right there is a little marathon on right now. Just saw the episode about the chicken finger crime syndicate episode, just so funny.
Great call.
The paintball one that followed it was even better.
Anybody know if it’s on Netflix yet? I caught a few episodes, and loved it, but it’s on when I’m watching Bones or Fringe or whatever Fox show it’s up against.
I think it’s on hulu or itunes too, so you can catch the episodes there. Please do, because it is a kickass show and you’d want to watch them all.
And, heck yeah, I LOVE this show.
hulu, last i checked, only had a couple eps at a time. but i think nbc.com has more.
i can’t explain why I like the show so much. I just do.
anyone see the episode with the high school kids? total masterpiece.
have a good weekend, all. don’t be a shmitty!
Nice comment, Schmitty! DUUUUUUUUUH!!!
“Niiiice comment, Schmiiiitty! EEE–DUUUUUUUUUH!!!”
Those kids were the worst characters ever. And by saying that, I mean the best worst characters ever. Perfect little monsters.
“School his ass, Armando!”
Guild’s Zabu has a small, small role as Abed’s stand-in for the student movies.
This has been popping up a lot here lately, and I can’t find a thread for it (it’s a tough one to search for, given the love of/by our own community.)
Anyhoo, this is for the TV show on NBC (which I highly recommend. It’s Archer-good.)
Here is an interview with writer Megan Ganz, who is also an Onion alum. Even if you’re not into the show, it’s an interesting breakdown of how these things get written.
That’s a great interview, with infinite good link-age. Is there seriously not a Community thread? I thought I’d started one. Is the search not working?
Community rules. It’s may favorite show. I’m not sure why, exactly; I’m content to enjoy it. I can’t say how, exactly, but every episode feels like a movie. This show has a tangible vibe to it. The main directors and vice-exec producers, the Russo Brothers, have quality movie experience.
I thought there was, but finding it is nigh impossible. VB search isn’t great on the best days, and the number of times the GWC community invokes the word ‘community’ is a Sagan number.
If anyone finds it, I’ll merge this with it.

It’s half the ensemble cast, and half the self-aware writing. If you want to follow the rabbit hole all the way down, check out this discussion on MeFi about the latest (Cougar Town) episode.
Thanks for the link for that interview! Great stuff there.
I also think this show takes more risks than any other show currently on television, or perhaps ever (but since I haven’t watched every single show on tv history, I can’t say ) - and amidst all of the different kinds of episodes they tackle, they still manage to balance all of that with great characters who are likable and hilarious, and keep its sense of identity as a show. But that sense of ambition is simply staggering and amazing, which is admirable. One can hate the show, but one can never say it’s lazy.
Plus, it’s very, very, funny.
“You are the AT&T of people.”
ETA:
Also, in some weird way, TBBT (which isn’t a bad comedy. Some great episodes…but also some not so great ones) is the comedy about geeks. But Community is the comedy FOR geeks.
I think I know why Donald Glover got the part

I found three other threads and merged them all into this one.
