Well… there ya go then.
I would be overcome with the vapors if Stephen Fry (or Hugh Laurie, though a long shot) was tapped to be the Doctor. It would be great to have an older Doctor.
That guy in the last post is far to “pretty boy” for me. Blech.
I think the fact that the doctor keeps getting younger after every regeneration is pretty cool, also, if they have a young attractive doctor, it will hook the younger audience (at least thats my opinion)
The guy in the post IS to young and too pretty. He was referring to Patterson Joseph, the current media front runner, who is neither too young nor too pretty. I agree though, whomever they pick had better be older (35 or above) and “interesting” or “different” in looks.
He definitely looks different from the previous Doctors:
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think there’s ever been a black Time Lord at all, has there? A Doctor for the Age of Obama, perhaps?
So… we’re gonna have a black doctor before we have a woman doctor?
It works that way with US politics, so I can’t see why an advanced alien culture would be any different.
Actually, that was my initial theory about the relationship between the Doctor and Professor River Song. I no longer think so, but who knows?
If he is chosen, he will be the first black time lord. He is not too old or too young in my opinion, and he not model perfect, which is another bonus. He also fits the one modern necessary for the NuWho doctor – he’s yummy for mummy. It was that quality that put Tennant over the top.
Hmmm. Where have I seen that before?
Deep Space Nine (black captain) and Voyager (female captain).
Actually, there was a female black captain in Star Trek, played by Madge Sinclair. She was the captain of the USS Saratoga when it was disabled by the Probe. At least she didn’t get lost or crash the ship.
