Well in the second opera of Der Ring des Nibelungen, Die Walkure, Siegmund and Sieglinde mate to give us Siegfried. And yes, they are twins (their father is Wotan) and yes they know it when they, well you get the idea.
Bottom line - there’s no a whole lot of new ideas out there when it comes to story telling.
